Feeling free to use symbols and color with intention can certainly create a space for releasing pent up emotion and thoughts that words can not express.
Yes, this certainly does sound like a rewarding experience to encourage clients to use inbetween sessions. Interesting. G
I just tell clients to express their feelings through choice of colour and expressing their feelings on paper in whatever way they want. Ive learned its best for them to explain to me what their drawing, painting, scribbling means and have had remarkable results. It raises their self esteem (they only did it for me but were better than they thought) and many say they have insight while they are telling me about it. But the biggest result for me is that they feel relief from expressing whats inside outside.
I know little about art therapy except that clients are encouraged to create drawings/art and the therapist interprets them to get a better insight into the client. Something to do with the images that they produce and how they break upo the space reveal the clients inner thoughts. Am I close?
Hi George:
Will be interested to read how your experiments go.
My interest is integrating art therapy as part of the homework between sessions. Its a good way for people to express things they cant say out loud even to themselves. It also opens clients up to how amazing they are in a literal way.
From my perspective an artist is the highest calling.
I am very interested in connecting hypnosis and fine art. I create artwork that combines suggestions with visual images. I also create images that express a model of the mind. ... but I have even higher goals concerning connecting the two.
Anyone out there have any ideas they'd like to share regarding fine art and hypnosis? I'd love to connect with you about this.
