Now here is a fun one I know the question is not a language pattern game but lets make it one lets all contribute our little stories of language patterns misuse as well as what you think about it and your resoning.

So here's mine! Anyone finds it odd when they see advertising trying hard to sell you on an idea yet use contradictory language like this dieting company
that has a phone numbers such as 1 800-xxx-Lose!?!?

No only is it not a winner combination but its also just not sending the right message.

Lets not forget, when we loose something we want to get it again! This is how our brain hears the word "loose"
Same way that having your clients in for weight "loss" instead of
"weight management" or "weight control" may have a negative effect on
your client's results.

Anyone knows of any other situations where the lingo gets in the way of the
message by creating an embedded suggestion to the opposite of the true
intended meaning of the advert?

P.s. Oh and here is a bad one I just thought about: "Don't drink and drive"

I wonder what the impact those embedded suggestions have had in the past because of adverts like these.

Dont Smoke.

Smoking is Addictive.

They are suggestions included in 'Tabaco' boxes.

When they include images, we will attract those illness images to our lifes when looking to the box. Directly to the unconscious it has been said.

I can also provide you with lots of suggestions included in advertisements. I cannot explain neither why they add that negative suggestions.

I have thought that it is because you won't get the result so you reBuy again.

Good thinking, I was more thinking of the unplanned use of a language pattern that goes against the company's general message and not intended subliminals.

Got any of those?

Dany, How do you know it's unplanned? Tabaco industry is one of the richest industries. They are not baby kids or small companies/selfworkers. They are a serious, profit directed industry. I can assure you they know all of this stuff, because if they are in the advertising market, they should know things about this. It would be fun to see: 'Notice how tabaco is empoisoning your veins, how does it feel?'

I cannot assure the outcome they desire with those messages, but it is not invisible the effects of tabaco.

no I'm not saying the ones the company puts there for you to smoke are unplanned. (re-read my previous statement and intro to this discussion.) Those make the company more money and are indeed planned.

I am talking about ads that want you to buy their products but end up making you not want them because of their poor use of subliminal or confusing suggestions where they have a cock up where people do not want to buy because their ads makes poor use of language patterns.

You example is surely planned. My example is that they want you to choose the winning combination but then ask that you call them at a number that spells out lose.

warm regards
