Well what have you done? How did you do it? any vids? So many things can cause this to happen, some may think you are not 100% confident, if it's the case you may be a bit robotic and look uncomfortable, then, they may not go.
Not saying this is the case but tell us a bit more so we can help!
Feel free to contact me directly for help.

Have you studied hypnosis outside of the instant and rapid inductions course? I've noticed that a lot of people get really caught up in doing instant inductions when they haven't learned how to do much easier, slower inductions. Learn to hypnotize first, then learn to do it quickly.
James
I must say that James represents the current ambiance of the street hypnosis culture well in his comment! He knows his stuff that one! ;-)
People go for the rapid inductions course the wonder why some things work great and some don't too often seeing useless things as important and important things as useless.

Permalink Reply by kathryn monahan sheetz on February 11, 2011 at 8:57pm I would hope the at minimum, in order to take an instant class the basic NGH certification would be a prereq. There are a few who might be able to do algebra without basic math101 but without it most would get frustrated and even hold the class back.
I took a two hr mini "rapid induction" class at Chicago mid Am NGH conference. It was enough to whet my interest in taking a full size class. Based on the blog conversation I am now wondering if it would include us (the class
) going out as a group in a public venue such as a mall or fair etc. Where we could test our skills, develop our skills, learn from the experience and have a bit of positive fun AND do it out of town.
Having watched a number of YouTube on site" Rapid Inductions" I was under the impression that is how such a class was done. If nothing else this discussion has alerted me to the fact that it might just be classroom learning and practicing on classmates. My first NGH instructor, William Mitchell, recruited people from the public to sign up for some hypnosis. And we practiced by putting them down one after another. If you didn't come out of that experience confident and able to do a basic trance then you might want not to continue. But every single person succeeded and as we w atched each other succeed it built us up even more. It became fun.
I was hoping a "Rapid/Instant" induction class would be more than just textbook.

your training seems to have led you to believe that the technique does the hypnotising. It does not, you do. I am afriad your introduction is letting you down massively. As hypnosis has nothing to do with sleep, by saying it is induced sleep, when she does not sleep her doubts are likely to weigh heavily on her mind. You are then rushing straight into the induction when a little mental warm up might pay dividends. She needs a little more understanding of her role and your intro is simply not giving that.
Essentially if you had an 'approach' and 'set-up' that includes some 'waking hypnosis' exercises you will at least stand a fighting chance of getting further on through the process.
You have learnt some useful techniques - I assume you used them in the class and hypnotised people to your satisfaction? My advice is put them all on the back burner (they will have value later on) and learn how to approach and set things up so that your subject has some fascination and interest in the process. Then show them something infallible that will heighten their focus and interest.
You have unfortunately been left a little short changed by your training when it comes to understanding the process of hypnosis and the roles you and your subject need to adopt.

Hi
I was Taught that these are The 7 main principles of instant inductions:- Eye Fixation, Shock and Surprise, Loss Of Equilibrium, Fatigue of The Nervous System, Confusion, Misdirection, Confidence
MY PRETALK EXPERIENCE:- After digesting the routine with confidence, I invited a female friend to my room. I ask her "Do You know what is hypnosis?" She said "NO" I explained "Hypnosis is an induced sleep by a hypnotist to improve memories, Take away phobias, reduce weight, Stop bad addictions during the induced Sleep. "Would You like to Experience Hypnosis Right Now?" She said "YES" Fast or Slow, how do you want me to hypnotise You? She Said "FAST" Do i have your full permission now to begin? She said "Begin"
MY INSTANT INDUCTION EXPERIENCES:- I told her to stand, i held out my hand palm up. I told her to press her hand palm hard on mine. I told her to stare on a spot at the wall above my head. I told her to close her eyes, instantly move away my hands and i confidently said SLEEP.

Permalink Reply by Ricky Strode on February 12, 2011 at 6:22am Keep in mind that the NGH is only one of the workable, useful courses in Hypnotism and Hypnotherapy. When I was new to this, I was saying the same thing, 8 schools later I would tend to say that one would need to go to 8 schools before they can and I would be wrong.
In my initial NGH class some walked out rock stars, some walked out more confused than when they came in. I was confidently doing rapid inductions within 4 hours of learning in class yet knew everything I do now about safety etc because I had read like a mad demon before the class and in a sense had been studying hypnosis since youth without knowing . Some people that studies with me are still uncomfortable with any induction.
I think that sometimes it's the school, sometimes the student and sometimes a bit of both. In this case it would seem that The course taken was almost exclusively touching on the rapid inductions and did a flew over the coco's est of other things. From the description given it also sounded a bit like the fatal mistake of asking (even confidently) if the subject was hypnotized after the fact. The response will almost certainly be no if the person had never been hypnotize before because some people will expect unconscious no matter how long and hard you tell them it is a state of increased awareness.
As Anthony mentioned, the techniques do not do the hypnotizing, you do! And even after years of doing this every now and again you will get a client that will surprise you with something special they might do, some will start to giggle randomly, some will stop following suggestions completely, it is all about what they are experiencing inside. I had a coworker that used to break the trust his clients had in him by telling them they did not respond properly after the session because one of the suggestions to giggle had not been followed after the fact. This is basically the perfect way to covertly suggest the session was useless and to expect no result and that is exactly what happened.
Seems like the suggestions and induction might be done with confidence, perhaps thinking they cannot fail, then unexpected results throw you off.
Namani please tell us more about what happened when things did not work, what those suggestions were what the subject was doing etc.
