Are you talking to your clients for free with Skype?

I have been asked today if a health professional should be using skype for her business?

My answer is a huge - YES!

We suggest that every Health & Wellness professionals should get a free skype account

Why should I use Skype?

It is great for your practice because:

1. The basic service is free.
2. Many online business people use it.
3. For a small fee, I can add Skype to phone capability.
4. It gives another dimension to communicating with clients
5. I can use Skype for conference calls.
6. Video (web) callsare great when you can't see clients face to face in your office.


What Is Skype?

Skype is an Internet Phone System that allows you to use your computer to call any landline or cell phone in the world.

Plus you can call any other Skype user from anywhere around the world for FREE.

Therefore no matter where you live you could call us at IntoFocus and speak to us for hours and it won’t cost you a cent.

All you need to do is download Skype onto your computer. If your computer does not have an inbuilt microphone, you will need to get one.

Where do I get it from?

1. Go to www.skype.com
2. The Skype Home Page will open up. Go to the menus at the top of the page & click Downloads
3. Click the ” Download Now” Green Button
4. Once download is complete then please follow the “Set Up Wizard“. The “Set Up Wizard” will guide you through the rest of the installation.
5. You will need to pick a user name for yourself - mine is intofocus (I chose my business name not a personal name as there a carolydean already!)
6. Once your account is launched click the “Contact” tab and insert “intofocus” into Skype Name and click on “find”
7. Once you find “intofocus” (Full Name - Carolyn Dean) then click on “Add Skype Contact“


What else do I need?

You can use Skype using your PCs built in speaker & microphone but on occasions the reception is not very good. I would therefore highly recommended buying a headset.

I personally have a Logitech headset which are USB connected which I bought fairyl cheaply from my local IT shop.

You may also choose to hook up a web cam as well, the person you are talking to will be able to see you.
Here are the options:

Headset with Boom Microphone:

Any headset with a microphone that has a USB plug so you can plug into your computer will work. This does not need to be expensive and you can buy your headset directly from Skype or you can find one at your local electronic/computer store

Skype Phone:

You can purchase a USB Phone or Skype Phone as well.

Make sure it is a USB that plugs right into your computer.

Be aware that some are like portable phones (similar to real phones) and these will cost more. You just need one to go through your computer.

Once again you can buy your headset directly from Skype or you can find one at your local electronic/computer store.
