Following, Spam and other Housekeeping Chores

In an attempt to keep this forum focused on health and wellness issues I have turned OFF the ability for anyone other than myself to be able to send emails to the entire group. You can still send emails to each other. You can still post to the forum and to the comment wall. The only change for 99.9% of you will be that you cannot be spammed from this group. If you have a message that needs to be sent to the entire group, send it to me and I'll send it out for you.

On each of the Group pages you have an envelope icon in the middle column that allows you to either receive email notices when someone comments on the group or to block those. It's called Stop Following or Follow. If you click it to Follow then you will be emailed each time someone posts a comment on this group.

I value each of you being here and hope you choose to stay. But, more than that, I hope you choose to participate in the questions and discussions. Thank you for being a member here.

I also believe that an allergy, if not something one was born with, is a conditioned response. I view allergies as a phobia of the immune system. In that way, you could treat and work it as a phobia. Most often using the immune system as a part that has the phobia. In NLP techniques you typically start off with the person imagining themselves behind a thick fiberglass barrier (dissociated) with the items they are allergic to ... Imagining that they are able to eat these things without an issue. If they are doing so, then have that person's immune system behind the fiberglass, connect with their immune system, letting it know that it is OK to have that.
Obviously, if this can be a life threatening allergy, take all the precautions, including an epi pen because, just the imagination can set off the reaction if not careful.
Most phobia techniques should work, getting in touch with the part that is causing the allergic reaction.

I haven't had the opportunity to work with food allergies - yet. But I 100% believe that if an allegy didn't appear at birth it is a conditioned response. Elman proved this in the 1950's. Using his procedure I have been successful with eliminating airborne allergies which didn't begin at birth. I imagine the same procedure would work with food.

Hi:
I am increasingly meeting people with food allergies and sensitivities. Some of them know which foods or other triggers cause the allergies but say that new ones seem to arrive all the time. For example, a woman who can eat a few fruits but not others suddenly becomes sensitive to the fruit on the tolerated list.

Does anyone have a script or suggestions?

I know from personal experience and research that many allergies/sensitivities produce the reaction of swelling and water retention which shows on the scale as an increase in weight. Very offputting for the client. Because this is all to do with the subject of weightloss I would also like to mention an increase in weightloss clients with pre diabetes or diabetes who also find it difficult to lose weight.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Many thanks

Contact Timothy Trujjillo of First Medicines. He does this very thing. He goes to disaster areas to both work with the survivors and to train others to do the same thing. He is part of this community.

Delete Comment Are there organizations with alternative therapies such as hypnosis and nlp for disasters like this - Hypnotists with no walls or something like that? if not, should there be? I have heard stories about hypnotherapists helping out in disasters, not only for things like hypnoanesthesia, but also for dealing with Trauma, something Haitians will have for a long time with some many lost in such a short time. Is there an existing association for people in our disciplines to act and get involved?

Absolutely. My skills tend to be in the emoTions and transpersonal although I do do pain relief.
Emergency and surgery hypnosis are on my list of things to learn.
I wonder if we could find a hypnotist from Haiti to help.

Feir,

That is what I was saying earlier too! I have done lots of pain management and some emergency hypnosis for pain and I too would hope some hypnotist will be going as I am not able to. One thing that I should had is that having a hypnotist that is from Haiti and to support him in going there to rapidly teach it to rescue workers and to help people would be good. If not someone from there at least someone that can speak French and Creole.

I don't think the argument correct. Many people in Europe have strong religions and hypnosis for surgery is being practiced in their hospitals.Anybody in extreme pain would likely accept help and question its source later. After all surgery using hypnosis was done first in India where strong religious belief is found. However it is a moot point. I'm not trained for Hypnoanesthesia but were I I would be trying to go.

Quite possibly... which would mean we're wasting our time talking about. So let's talk about something else now:
