Ok, Ok... so it's the first discussion. I take full responsibility for that... how negligent of me to start a group, then forget to get us all talking. Well, one thing that I am really hoping for in this group is to share ideas specifically geared towards marketing hypnosis in Michigan. I personally would like to get some of your ideas as to what to put in letters to groups for whom you would like to do a speaking engagement (ie. Rotary, JayCees). I'm told this is a great way to advertise hypnotherapy and my services, but I have no idea what to put in such a letter. Does anyone here have a sample letter that I could plagarize (I mean adapt appropriately... grins) or any ideas as to what I could put it in such a letter?

Also, has anyone had any success advertising on craigslist? If so, can you help out with wording for a successful ad?

And finally, what about wording for a press release? I'd love to get something in the paper... the Grand Rapids area just doesn't have a lot of hypnotherapists advertising in Yellow Pages or as far as I can see on the net.

Hey Linda!

Well I can't say I have marketed myself as a hypnotist. I've been going mainly word of mouth. I am planning on taking it up a notch this summer. I plan on doing speaking engagements hitting all the civic organizations in my area (clio). I recomend you contact you local chamber of commerce or welcome wagon if you have one. I have been thinking senior centers for pain control. Weight loss and smoking are always a given.

Just currious. Are you going to put on a demonstration? A show? How are you going to sell yourself once you get your foot in the door?

Jerry

On the level and in due bounds...
If not as a hypnotist, how do you market yourself? Just curious there. I find it's easier to develop rapport if I state up front what it is that I do, rather than couch it in the more generic terms of what issues I help people with.

Anyway, as to what I want to do, is to give a short presentation on what hypnotherapy is, what some of the applications of it are, and perhaps a short demonstration.

What I am interested in specifically is what to put in a letter to such organizations as you mention, and how to word a press release appropriately to generate interest and not an immediate filing in the circular file.
Hehehehehe!

I used to be a Commercial Diver and after busting my tail giving great service I'd say to the Captain/Dock Foreman/Engineer "if you liked the service I gave you today, call back and ask for me and I'll give the same great service every time!"

Now as a hypnotist I am pretty much working on word of mouth. I pay attention to the people around me listening for complaints about themselves. Weight, smoking, ect. and then I say "You know I can help you with that..." I am working for donations to the children's hospitals and ask them to tell their friends and relations about their experiences...

Jerry
Hey Linda,

Send an email to me off line, I'd be happy to send you a press release you can alter to your specifications. I used one to get four papers to cover WHD and I even got a short radio blurb as well.

And I agree, say what you are "I'm a Hypnotherapist and I specialize in ......... ... Here are some examples of what I do... ....... Other applications include....................... If you or someone else is in need of....................... give me a call at.................

You may not get a call from that person, you might get a call from a family member or someone in their circle in need of.............................. ect...

My email is scottccooper1@msn.com

Hope you have a nice evening.

Scott
