Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on youtube videos I could watch or good books to read? These seem to be the most widely mentioned practices for starting to get an idea of how hypnotism works.
I am also very curious in being hynotised for the first time, just for fun and the experience not any help reasons. Any suggestions on a great way to do it my first time?
I know I could have posted this in a more public forum but sometimes its hard to go through all of the information out there and its reassuring to get the facts from people from minnesota.
I'm glad to see the group growing. I'm looking forward to see what this this year has to offer for hypnosis in Minnesota.
I'd like to suggest we share our stories to get things moving.
For me, I'm mostly a hobbyist, it's about the level I can afford at the moment. My first personal experience with hypnosis was way back some 30 years ago when a friend tried to hypnotize me. While I did go into trance, I think he was expecting me to be "under his control". He didn't try much, just asked me one or two questions that he wanted some honest answers. I gave him honesty but I was quite guarded in what I gave him. It was scary at first, not knowing I'd be in control, but once I got past that, it was good experience.
I didn't experience any personal hypnosis since then but I've been to a few stage hypnosis shows. Most of my recent experience has been learning via YouTube videos, email news letters and courses I've bought from Igor Ledochowski. My best experience from that was to use self hypnosis to take some college exams at high speed. 2 different exams I took, about 50 questions a piece, took only about 5 minutes a piece.
Other experiences I've had was to hypnotize some younger family members and a couple of guys at work. One of those I believe to be a somnambulist, at least for me. This person was shocked that I hypnotized him while we standing up with his eyes wide open and with no formal induction. I just used my voice (tonality and such) as well as hypnotic phraseology to stick his hand to a clipboard sitting on a table.
While I would love to move on to more formal training, it's going to take some time to get there. Eventually I would like to become a certified hypnotherapist and for the fun of it, I'd like to learn street-hypnosis skills.
