I agree. This film is hard for some, but truly a modern classic with many lessons for all ages and stages.
My mother was a bipolar suicide. Annabella Sciorra played it flawlessly.
Kelley,
Thanks for reminding me about this movie. I saw it in 98, I'll have to see it again. That reminds me of another RW movie I've been meaning to see again: Dead Poets Society.
I think this film is probably one of the most underrated of its time. The entire thing, all the way down to the use of color, was brilliant. The messages contained there in are very powerful.

Thanks for posting this :)
I didn't see What Dreams May Come for the first time until early this year but now when I want to fast track people to a wonderful experience somewhat like my experiences when I was critical in coma 1978 much of which is impossible to put into words, then that'll take them a long way. I feel much of the mysteriousness I was privilleged to witness must surely have been witnessed at some time also by the author?

Movies such asWhat Dreams May Come Awakenings, and Patch Adams, remind me it's when we are at our lowest ebb that we need to look closer at the bigger picture because is then we must really see, and bring into focus a brighter future then gradually also brighter, are become our todays.
