Hi all

i just wrote this on comments and then thought it was getting so long i'd better change it to a disscussion instead!!!

I just got my qualification through the ngh in july and putting as much time and effort as i can into setting up my business, i have to say I'm finding it hard at the moment to put as much hours as i'd like into it all as i've 2 kids under 3 and an older daughter too, I just love hypnosis and i'm just dying to get out there and help people(and some money coming in too would be enjoyable :)) I just could do with some time management skills and probably a confidence booster too! I was hoping to share an office with someone as only want part time practice but have had no luck finding an affordable yet... i keep affirming everything i need comes to me and everything i need to know is revealed to be and it helps to calm my mind and believe that i WILL get there!!

any helpful ideas would be appreciated too, for all that needs to be done.. so far i have my intake forms printed out, business cards ordered, wed site in the process of being set up for free through weebly.com and lots of practice done with friends and family etc now i just need an office, a chair and some clients!!!!!

best of luck to everyone out there setting up, its such an exciting world out there with limitless possibilities... oh and is asking about prices and how much is the right amount to charge allowed? I'm really unsure in this area!!!

thanks x

Cost of sessions etc:

A good idea is always to study the market to know how much others charge for the service. If there is no one in the immediate area it simply means you need to broaden the area you are looking at and tweak the cost based on your knowledge of economical differences between where you find other in your field and yourself. Who knows perhaps you can make an alliance with an other hypnotherapist to share office space. You can also share the office space with someone in a different profession. Some rent space in Medical clinics and as a result get clients sent to them by the medical practitioners. One thing to remember... always have your own phone line even if its forwarded to their reception and they book for you. That way if you leave you take your clients with you and are not giving them to the next hypnotherapist to share office space with htem.

An other great idea is to calculate any applicable taxes (if any where you are located) so that you end up with a round amount. This will make it easier should you decide to work from home or a shared office where you cannot process debit or credit cards.

Yet an other great tip is always to start small. If you are able to do 1 session a day for now, start that way, build a name for yourself in a way that is inexpensive for you by only needing a room to practice in the down hours of other businesses (remember your clients probably all have day jobs that they do not want to leave should be easy at first.) Then as you get really busy and booked solid for all those nights (4 to 5) then you may be able to spend a whole day on it with the rest of the days now open for that one session again... and then repeat the process. This of course assumes that you are able to reduce your current work schedule when the time comes... Other wise you can throw in weekends and evenings till you make enough to quit your job. Once you make enough to quit your job you should still continue for a while though, use this time to test the market throughout the year (some businesses dry up in the summer) this will also allow you the extra funds to develop your business.

Hope this helps!
