Hey everybody,

I was wondering what NLP Books you would recommend. I was thinking about getting Frogs into Princes and Monsters and Magical Sticks by Hellar but I don't know what would be a good investment with my money. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Tim

It depends on where you are. I love Frogs into Princes but for some reason I find a lot of people don't like it. I'm sure it's all on learning style. Frogs to Princes is a lot of transcript of demonstrations that Grinder and Bandler did. it's not exactly a book that is intended to teach you NLP by itself. I have not read or heard of Monsters and Magical Sticks.
If you want an intro book, Heart of Mind by Connie-Rea Andreas is fairly good. Actual demo transcripts and explanations.
If Language is important - The structure of Magic I and II, especially II but again, this is a little rough for beginners.
For fascination and enjoyable reading on NLP, I recommend The Rainbow machine by Andrew Austin. really funny stories.
if experienced, i enjoy the Big Book of NLP techniques as a reference.
I hope this helps.
Monsters & Magical Sticks is a wonderful book; I highly recommend it. Frogs Into Princes is, I think, a good introductory read, but as transcripts it's not as straightforward as some might expect.

NLP: The New Technology of Achievement is a good introduction, but says little or nothing about NLP's hypnotic roots.

Some of the older books are still well worth a read: Using Your Brain For a Change, Change Your Mind (and Keep the Change), Trance Formations (the original, though the new one's pretty good, too), Time For a Change, Insiders Guide to Submodalities... lots and lots of choices.

Structure of Magic I & II and Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson I & II are valuable, though dense for the beginner.
Thanks for the responses!
I think I'll get Monsters and Magical Sticks and Frogs into Princes, and then Structure of Magic I and II for more advanced techniques.
Thanks for the advice, both of you!

Hello TIm,

I personally think one of the best books out there is Magic of NLP Demystified by Lewis and Pucelik (http://www.amazon.com/Magic-NLP-Demystified-Pragmatic-Communication...)

It is one of the few books that does not presuppose you know NLP.

Another real good book is the NLP for Dummies.

Be well,
-Lane
Thanks, Lane!
