I as a child loved the Ouja board, I also loved to have seance's down my basement as a child, I didn't think anything of it,to me it was just a game, most kids use to do those type of things especially growing up without all the modern conveniences as kids have today, internet, cellphones, and etc.
We kind of basically used our imaginations, and it was all in good fun.
I was one of those kids that had to rush home and watch Dark Shadows, and that opened a whole new world for me, I was obsessed with the show at that time, and I wasn't the only one, everyone did the same thing.
By now I am not so sure, I have an Ouja board, took it out and there was a force pulling my hands I can't explain it, but I won't touch it anymore, I look at it but I am afraid to actually open the board up, I don't want anything evil coming into my house, and I do believe it is a portal or a gateway for demonic forces to come into my surroundings. What is anyone else's opinion about it?

Ouija boards are not inherently evil. Just as pendulums are not inherently evil, or finger signals, or automatic writing, or automatic drawing, or this or that automatism. They have the energy and power that we put into them. While some people do get messed up using the things, it is primarily an affinity that they had as a pre-existing condition that opened them to it. An excellent first book on Ouija that covers both the metaphysical and psychological explanations of the board is OUIJA: THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME by Stoker Hunt. It's a bit dated now (I read it way back when it was first published) but much of the information is still worth reading and the various belief sets are still prevalent. The primary way that ouija works is via ideomotor effect. Of course, the fact that it is a tool that employs ideomotor effect as its mechanism does not in any way discount or invalidate anyone's spiritual explanations for the context of the board. However, my own critical prejudice is that in most cases, the phenomena can be explained as psychological construct and ideomotor movement. Having said that, I have used Ouija boards for many years. There are some folks for whom such a board - or automatic writing - are indeed very inappropriate and so if you do use the things, you need to be aware of untoward compulsions or automatisms that are inappropriately expressed in some and take immediate steps to short circuit and avoid such behaviors. Of course, that doesn't mean that some of those negative effects are not externally generated. We certainly could not prove such a negative.
I loved the original film WITCHBOARD, although watching it today, a lot of the horror and suspense is diluted. The sequel was absolutely awful. Of course, the film, while carrying forward some common beliefs regarding Ouija boards, is a work of fiction.
Thank you David, I agree totally...a great fiction movie indeed.
Each person couldn't possibly find an answer here suited for another.
It's going to be each individuals belief system alone that should be the underlying factor when it comes to this.
A TV will ALWAYS push the evil side (labeled fiction)..but it always raises ratings. It's why we all watch it.
Blessings~

Ouija works via automatism, so it may be considered a valuable tool for investigating the subconscious realm, like pendulums or other devices that are used by diviners. The caveat with all divinations is how the querrent interprets the information received. Because it is easy for a neophyte practitioner to be misled, attentive care is typically advised.

Understanding how to create a personal shield of protection for all participants and their possessions is essential for the cautious minded. One major concern is that by becoming overly reliant on the mystical information presented, one loses her ability to think independently for herself.

We live on a need to know basis. It is therefore with some risk or possible peril, one seeks positive insights via divinatory methods. The danger is, of course, that she may end up summoning ominous premonitions instead.
