Just lately I have been questioning my first regression experience...just in case my hypnotist gave me leading questions.
the situation was this....i was in a burning aircraft become distressed, he had said to me "take the spirit away from the body and look for guidance to heal the pain"
Would you consider this to be a leading question.....and if it is, how do you deal with patients that are distressed and need some healing??

I don't have any problem with the suggestion that the hypnotist gave you and I agree with what Anita said.
The kind of "leading questions" that one needs to be concerned about occur when it is suggested that something happened that was not already known to have happened (i.e., because it was either revealed through good age regression technique, or documented historically).

I don't consider this a leading question, you were already in the aircraft, he was just working with your feelings with this memory in order to heal it.

Looking forward now to more sessions in the new year :-)

This hypnotist chose to lead you away from learning from the experience, in my opinion. Jumping out of the body is a great way to Run Away when we feel we have no alternatives. And, I've noticed that some hypnotists have no idea how to find the good or any healing in actual traumas, thus they direct their clients to run away, jump out of their bodies, numb them selves, go to before birth, etc.
My question is: do you feel you healed this experience which you regressed to? What did you learn; what new perspectives came to conscious awareness through the faculties of your body-mind? What was healed that will help you in "real life"?
There are methods to confront even the worse traumas that human beings suffer through, and release the feelings to come to amazing clarity and resolution, which transforms the "bad" experience into a learning event of great value.
In my opinion, the hypnotist was leading you in the only direction he/she knew how to go, but there are far superior methods for healing events such as you referred to. Time will tell if the session provided true healing; if it did, good!

Thanks for your comments. What is hard for me, maybe, is that I never went to be hypnotized to gain any healing. It was purely to be nosey, I was studying psychology and was intrigued as to whether i could be hypnotized.
So do i think ive gained healing from it....hmmm i cant be sure really. I do know i gained an experience like no other and one that will stay with me forever. It has given me now no sense of fear for what may happen when i die...that in itself is quite priceless. It has also given me the drive and determination to go into hypnosis myself.
So reallly, only good positive things have come out of it :-)

I'm a little unclear as to exactly what the question is or what the scenario was. Were you in a regression with someone and that someone interjected that statement "take the spirit was from the body and look for guidance to heal the pain?"
The rules or ideas that serve me best are always about connecting the client with his own inner knowing, own inner strength, own inner insight. So far as I know (and if I'm wrong, someone can correct me), we are almost duty-bound to facilitate the clients finding his answers within.
If that were a metaphor, perhaps you might want to ask the hypnotist that guided your hypnosis exactly what that meant.
A final caution: it's easy to think that others who SEEM to be more wise or more knowledgeable are authorities or experts, especially when you are trying to accomplish something. Always listen to your own inner resonance, your own inner knowing. If something doesn't feel right, trust yourself over anyone else.
When in doubt, as you are now, I have people whose opinions and rationality I've learned to trust. I turn to them to make sure that I'm not in a "blind spot" or that I'm not missing something important. Beyond that, you know the old saying about "opinions." Everybody has one. It doesn't make them right.

thanks for your comments. This was a past life regression session, my first one. I had no doubts whatsoever at the time of the regression, in fact the opposite, i was amazed at the whole experience. My doubts started to appear after listening to the CD a few times and after reading some posts on here.
I think i now accept my experience for what it was....an experience and one that will stay with me :-)
