All,
What's amazing to me is that the sense of my plan and my direction seem to becoming more refined each day. I think someone's working under the hood while I'm doing other things.
Thanks to all of you for your support.

Walt,

I love the way that Hugh customized your session to your interests--I find that's one of the most fun things we get to do as hypnotists.

So last week, I started attending kenpo karate classes, because self-reflection in trance made me realize that I needed a program that would keep my mind busy while I was getting exercise. Last night, when I weighed in, I had released 1.8 pounds since last week's weigh-in. I'm looking forward to even better results this week.

All,
On Saturday I had a session on Weight Release with Hugh Cole. We built my plan around some mathematical concepts having to do with algorithm and vector field. I started today on the journey. The algorithm is an input/output model to insure weight release. It includes considering what I eat with my aerobic exercise and strength training. The vector field gives me a sense of direction, like a breeze pushing on my back. Now I don't have to look towards the end of the path--just keep going in the right direction.

Today I'm at 274. Will report next Monday or before.

Walt, from the tips thread:
Tip: Whether you have 100's or 10's of pounds of weight to release, break it down into increments. It's much more palatable to focus on a 2, 5, or 10 lb reduction than a much larger, intimidating figure. Once you have met that immediate goal, repeat it, and so on!
I tell my clients (and myself) that 2 is a fine number. 2 is easy. 2 is doable. Just 2...
Just imagine how good it feels to let 2 go, Walt!

I have a lot of weight to loose, 90 lbs. When I look at the process it seems like a real long uphill walk. This puts me off. I know I should view the process on a more local vision, one week or month at a time. But I have a difficult time doing that.

About 20 years ago I cut down a tree that was in the way of a project I was working on. I bought some stump remover to get rid of the stump. The directions said it would take about 6 months to work. I thought "that's too long" and put the remover on a shelf. Stumps still there, stump remover is still there. My family thinks this is a funny story.

There is plenty of time yet to start eating well and exercising in 2009! Why wait for the next year? If you find yourself tempted by an unhealthy "treat", just say to yourself: "I'd rather be slim and fit!" and stay on course...

The control of the palate is a valuable aid for the control of the mind.
– Mahatma Gandhi

Eknath Easwaren expands on this thought:

I first became interested in improving my diet under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi, who used to include articles on diet and health in his weekly newspaper along with all the latest political news. I had been brought up on traditional South Indian cuisine. I had enjoyed it all thoroughly, but I had never asked what the purpose of food is. At Gandhi’s prompting, I started asking this kind of question and concluded to my great surprise that food is meant to nourish the body.

I started changing. I began to eat foods that wouldn’t have appealed to me in earlier days. Now asparagus tastes better than chocolate torte.

The palate is the ideal starting point for getting some mastery over your senses. You have three, four, maybe more opportunities a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any number of between-meal snacks. No need to talk of fasting or strange diets. Just resolve to move away from foods that don’t benefit your health and begin choosing foods that do.

James, you are awesome! You even inspired me to let go of 2 lbs of unwanted flub this week! I also acknowledge and thank Roger Moore, Michael Ellner and Fable Goodman as contributors to my movement forward.
