Hi Paul. I guess there's a plethora of approaches to lowering the fear of loud noises. Here's something to ponder on though as you go for it: We humans are born with only two fears hard-wired into our minds, they are 1/ the fear of falling and 2/ the fear of loud noises.
All else is developed as we travel through life. Myself, after a little probing into the original source of the irrational (we all, or most of us at least, flinch to a LOUD noise) portion fear, I'd be inclined to use something like the "Rewind" or "Rapid Phobia Cure" technique.

Hi Guys,
can anyone help me out, I have a client coming to see me on Monday that has a fear of loud bangs and noises, Should I treat him with the same method I would for fears and just make it auditory instead of visual. Your comments would be greatly received.

It is in a message somewhere back through the pages but as I have to be here to write that I'll just re attach it here save needing to hunt back for it...

Hi Dan,

Thank you for sharing your really creative work. I was able to create a really good script from using your work and then implementing my own. The story telling is great and captivating while making positive change.

Hi John,
'If required, session two onwards' is an option if you need to do a second session etc to have the client recall the useful and relevant parts of the therapy so far relating to that issue. Other bits of the script maybe slightly different and perhaps other treatment ideas like tasks you decide to set may be different but if you have laid down all the useful information and they need a second session etc...then you want them to draw up the useful bits and to learn from what you have covered. In my sessions if I need to do a second session I may not say anything new. Being a firm believer in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy I believe the client has most of the necessary resources for change and in most cases any identified missing resources or skills will have been covered. My aim in subsequent sessions is to reorient the client to the things they know but might not know they know so that they can use this to move forwards. Often from feedback they recall different things in different follow up sessions as overtime different things apply. They have all the information they just need to integrate it at their own rate and speed. My reason for including a session two onwards script is so that people can continue to use the script creator rather than just think they made a stop smoking script; the client is still smoking there are no scripts left to use...and in my experience people often want something they think is the 'hypnosis' so it is easier to give it to them (and have them focus on what works and what is useful) whilst in reality the main focus may now be on a task you set and mentally rehearsing this task being carried out.
So far the final script creator has about 20 different induction types and I'm just finishing off the 60 or so specifically mentioned problem areas (or topics the script will target). The idea with including things that make up problems; like missing needs; missing skills; aspects of the problem like splitting and linking, worrying etc is so that even if the presenting problem isn't on the list that doesn't matter if the client is helped to use their mind better and to ensure they are getting their needs met etc then the problem usually goes away. For example if someone wanted help with sleep and it turned out when you chunked up that they weren't getting their need for a sense of control met in work and they were misusing their imagination by going over all the things they would like to say or do and were worrying then without using the sleep part of the script you could target these areas and once the client has resolved them their problem will often go away without direct intervention.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for sharing this with us.
A question; in the creator what does ''If required session two onwards'' mean in questions 12,13,14,15 ?

I agree, Pattie. Generosity is a good thing. Key is being discerning. IMO, there has to be a sense of balance.
