Hi All,

Was wondering if any of you have any scripts specifically for cannabis addiction. I was thinking of using the control room to lower addiction craving pretty much the same as i use for smoking, along with some future pacing and teaching how to cope with and recognise the triggers.

Hi

You can use your stop smoking script for pot as well.

Just change smoking for pot, or any other names you want to use.

I mostly use  Fee of the habit that brought you here to day ....

Use things like poisoning your mind and body...

Never again let the habit control you....

Taking respectability for your body and to protect it..

Dealers are in control of your life and not you and you will never again loss control...

Etc .

Hope this helps .

Hi jonathan,

Would you also considered finding out what is the driving force in wanting cannabis and what is the pay off?

Maybe the affect bridge or parts therapy?

It may also be a good idea to consider anchoring the feeling that the client gets from cannabis to something else that's less destructive, but still fullfills that particular need, but as I have never worked with a client with this addiction, I am only making a supposition.

Best wishes for a successful new year.

Hi Jonathan,

David makes a vital point: what is the pot use providing for the client? Many recreational users of weed enjoy the relaxing feelings they get from smoking. The good news is that hypnosis triggers the same neuro peptide activity, without the expense, the smoke, or the risk of getting caught breaking laws!

Your idea of using a control device for craving reduction is good. You can also teach your client how to take control of those craving-inducing emotions with an anchor-collapse process like the Ellner/Barsky emotional detox. Other ways to deal with cravings:

EFT  Teach how to tap or rub those cravings down and away

Time Distortion  Lift your client up to look down on his timeline and see that cravings are but moments in his life, like a speck of sand on a beach, etc.

Metaphor/Object Imagery  Clients have created bars that rise and lower, buckets to pour the cravings in, spun them out and away, morphed them into more pleasant feelings, soothed them like a growling animal, etc.

Let your client point you in the right direction and have an amazing time freeing him! Be sure to let him play in his new, pot-free existence with that future pacing.

Maybe i started this thread a little prematurely as they are due to come for their consultation tomorrow so i dont have all the info i need but in response to david i alwayss do a luscher test to check for any possible underlying anxities but am not all that familiar with parts therapy.

Kelley, not trained in EFT so thats not an option but the metaphor, future pacing ideas are also the path i was looking at going down dependant upon her consultation.

Thank you all for your help though, food for thought !!
