Hi,

I have a 13 yr show jumper for a client who is unable to vocalise or feel when she is reaching that level of arousal to allow her to perform at her optimum level. She has trouble reaching that level and is too relaxed for competition. Anybody got any thoughts on how I can help her achieve higher levels of arousal/anxiety when working with her in the field?

Thanks,

Barry

What is one sports performance suggestion that you find really works?

I love to use the one I learned through Steven Parkhill...  "Let all muscles needed to ________ work in perfect harmony and unison... let all other muscles relax and move aside for a while."   Or a variation of this.

This is especially great for golfers and tennis players.  The little tension caused by muscles not needed for the activilty are what cause much of the trouble... so instruct them to relax and move aside (or let go).

I've been contacted by an organization that is interested in putting me into schools (high & middle) to work with various sports team to improve their games. Any thoughts, suggestions are most welcome. I'm looking for usable case histories and will be doing only about an hour long session at each school with possible generic follow-up CD for each student.

*sigh* It's too bad that article doesn't mention hypnosis, Michael.

Hi Doug
And thank you for your welcome to your group about sports hypnosis.
Taylor Sherman wrote in an answer to you:
Michael Jordan was said to have rushed by with a fire in his eyes and pure determination.
How will this effort influence Michael Jordan? We know, that all use of energie will be registered in the blood, and efforts like this will give a great "output" in his blood.
In these times where everyone is suspected of using doping, it would be interesting to hear, if his effort would give a reading in his blood similar to using drugs or other kinds of illegal doping,
And will the use of hypnosis be registered in his blood becouse of its, in this case, stmulating influenced to his body?
be good - hans

Thanks Doug,

just looking through the various ways of reducing fear and overcoming the fear of failure, I guess removing the critical thinking to some extent.
