There is an artist Rob Gonsalves, who creates artwork called Magic Realism that has some very experiential trance-like elements. Thought you all might enjoy seeing these pieces and perhaps get some inspiration for your own journeys in them.…Continue

Why IS one person more "experientially gifted" than another? Are they born that way or do they naturally learn to be so, or is it more of an intentional learning process? I like to imagine that all of my clients can achieve a satisfying degree of…Continue

"Hypnotic virtuousos," as Hilgard called them, are not always recognized as such. They are either venerated as saints and mystics by one segment of the population, or made the objects of objective scientific analysis by another, or regarded by the…Continue

Hi, Last month I gave myself a suggestion that had unintended and funny consequences this month. I related it to Don yesterday and he asked that I post it here. "Experienced something funny today-sometimes this stuff bites one in the hiney. I…Continue

There are many altered experiences of consciousness outside of clinical settings which are induced by procedures designed to increase tension, alertness, and physical activity rather than by relaxation and sleepiness. Bányai and Hilgard (1976)…Continue

Hi, Last Sunday I was going through a bunch of hypnosis recordings that I hadn't gotten around to checking out previously. A lovely way to spend a day off. I thoroughly enjoy exploring the work and creativity of others. It is like an all day trip…Continue

Mother Teresa had a mystical experience while she was in her teens, and spent the rest of her life futilely trying to re-capture it. But as hypnotists we know that this is possible, at least for the experientially gifted. Many other people have had…Continue

Comment by Parviz Bazzi on January 7, 2012 at 12:33pm Hi Liza,
I am sure I can improve my knowledge about Hypnosis here . There are very good experts who have full time practice and have useful websites and free newsletters that everyone can sign up and benefit from them. I signed up to few newsletters from websites whose designers are members of Hypnothoughts. Sure I will join the groups you are gonna suggest.
Have a nice night

Comment by Lisa on January 7, 2012 at 12:22am Hi Parviz,
Nice to see you here. Thats perfectly ok-there are people of all experience levels in hypnosis here. Perhaps you might like to share what you experience in trance and hypnosis. Several of us have and I am hoping more will as they become comfortable doing so. A few of us experience things in hypnosis and trance that are more extreme than average but don't worry that you have to experience the same stuff yet at all. We are all trying to figure this thing out and understand how to guide others to doing it too. All voices and input welcome. I am at work right now but as soon as I can Ill send you some groups you might want to join to help learn more.
gentle day,
Lisa

Comment by Don on December 31, 2011 at 11:51am Hi Walt,
It's good to hear from you again.
Perhaps it might not do snakes much good to eat their tails -- but conceivably, if they had the proper instruction, they might be able to grasp their tails firmly in their mouths when they have climbed to the top of a steep hill, flex their bodies into hoops, and roll down the other side instead of having to slither down.
Who knows what the experientially gifted can accomplish with the proper instruction?
Don
