Welcome new members.  I am out in SF teaching this weekend.

Danny, I would suggest slowing down and tweaking your induction, to make it more of your own and to make it more comfortable for your clients.  In a recent class, this past weekend, I taught a wide variety of Inductions I have invented, and then showed various derivative versions of those Inductions to make them less theatrical, more easily learned, and perhaps gentler to the person experiencing the induction.  Having both a doctor and nurse in the class as students, they both seemed to enjoy all the variations I taught including the more gentle ones for various nervous patients.

John and Brian, Thank you very much for responding to my post, it's true there is always more to learn :-) the instant induction I generally use is a simple hand drop technique, the abruptness I mentioned was simply the persons hand impacting their own lap after I slip my hand out from under theirs.  The impact they perceive (certainly not most clients, but some) is from that simple act and the level of depth perceived in trance.  Obviously, jerking, pulling, or slamming someone about would simply not do in an office setting.
I will certainly follow your suggestions for finding instant induction training that is done with out impact or with gentle movement, as I am always interested in improving, and of course there is always room for more improvement.

Best Regards

True Brian! I get that a lot from people who are watching my videos, the drop down and arm movement looks violent, it isn't. I have taught my Speed Trance methods as recently as this past weekend, to both a Dr. and a nurse in class, and all seemed a bit surprised at how GENTLE the movement actually is. The arm is guide the person down and for safety, more than anything else. In a stage or say a TV show environment, yeah a bit of showmanship - in a session, nice and slow, nice and ease does it, every time.

Danny, get training from someone who is truly competent in speed hypnosis.  They may appear abrupt but they don't have to be.  Yes, some folks jerk volunteers into a trance but this is usually for show and the actual experience is not so abrupt.  However, there are folks who only know how to jerk or pull or slam folks into trance . . . uh, hopefully they aren't also therapists.  I have a DVD set on Gentle Speed Hypnosis Inductions on my site but any good training can set you on a gentle path . . . if they don't know how to be gentle and fast then skip their training anyway.  BTW, John's "butterfly" induction can be extremely gentle when performed by a practitioner who has a gentle approach in mind.  In many cases you are NOT talking about saving three minutes you're also talking about perceived "depth" of the experience.

Speed Inductions need not be abrupt.  there are numerous examples of me on various videos hypnotize in people quickly and yet gently, as well as a great many others including Richard Nongard and many, many others. In many cases the Inductions look abrupt, but they are not.

Danny, you may consider doing a slightly slower and more gentle version of a speed induction, or developing a greater level of rapport the client, so that the client is neither shocked more traumatized.

On a personal note, I conducted another Speed-Trance class here this weekend, developing two more speed Inductions as it for the class.

Truly, I love this stuff!

Hi, just got here, but I thought I'd add my two cents worth to the question of using speed hypnosis inductions.  I have found that many of my clients have been exposed to trauma in the past and the abruptness of instant inductions has the posibility of causing added distress.  For my purposes, a rapid (3 minute) induction is more comfortable and does not nagtively impact the amount of time we spend in hypnosis sessions.

As an example, I had a client that was in a hurry, so I used an instant induction.  The induction was so abrupt, that though she had an effective session, she came out with the distinct impression that I had struck her!   Something that I would obviously never do, and by her next session she felt reassured that it wasn't the case.   But the point is that for an extra 3 minutes, it just isn't worth it for clients in my practice.  I still use instant inductions for fun at parties, or with clients I have anchored a reinduction phrase with previously.  But as a general rule, & particularly for first time clients, I avoid using them.

Quiet here of late. So. . . Howz it goin'?

Is anyone other me using Speed Inductions in their shows?

Is anyone doing demos or pre/post-show demos?
As for me, yes to all.

I am off to host Grad lock-in's tonite, 4 AM, and all week.

Like my Grandmother used to say, Sleep when you are dead.

Seems every Speed-Trance class I host, I invent at least 1 new induction.  So far, over 20 inductions invented, all taking a second or so. Longer if you are learning them.

Hypnosis is easy, comedy,

now that's hard,

no wait, I do that too, ROTFL
