Lately I've been experimenting with speed inductions mainly through Cerbone's techniques (huge fan by the way). However, I have found that speed inductions either succeed or fail miserably. I do know some people have an easier time reaching a trance state than others, but what kind of people would they be?

Are there any tests I could do beforehand to test whether they are highly susceptible (similar to the hands glued together test for normal hypnosis)?

Does speed induction require a specific mindset which can be reached with a pre-induction talk?

Hopefully this discussion can compile different people's findings and results.

Hao, during the pre-talk everything is set up for success with hypnosis, i.e. the participant is informed. By frame, I am referring to the basic structure that supports the hypnotic concept.

So what would be considered a good pre-talk for speed inductions?

I tried speed inductions today and it pretty much failed. Out of 5 people it was successful on 1, relatively successful on another but he resisted and woke up after falling on my shoulder, and completely ineffective on three others. Does instant inductions only work on somnabulists or is my technique wrong?

Same as a good pre-talk for any other induction, albeit usually a bit briefer, depending on context. Dispel misconceptions and excite their imaginations and gain consent and go for it.

Did you deepen immediately? He "resisted" then "woke up" implies that you didn't immediately deepen and keep him focused in his experience. As to the failures we'd have to know what you did and how you managed them before we could honestly comment where to enhance the technique.

My experience has been completely the opposite . . . I find that more folks respond well to speed inductions than respond to other types of inductions while natural high responders, the experientially gifted somnambulist, will pretty much usually respond to anything and everything well.

Well said, Brian.

Hao, just embellish upon the eagerness of the participant and seize control of the individual's hypnotizability by maximizing your rapport with powerful suggestions.
Most people under the right conditions tend to be Hypnotizable. My pre talk is generally short and sweet, direct and to the point, and more importantly, in my mind before I began my induction, and generally a few seconds down the road, mentally, where they are in my reality already hypnotized. Like Michelangelo said, the statues are ready in the stone, he was merely taking away the parts of the stone that didn't need to be there. oh 01
In my mind they already hypnotized, I'm simply moving them a moment or so forward into a place where they are already with a need to be. If you notice from some of the videos, when I have worked in bars and restaurants, where some individuals have been drinking. Obviously not my first choice to work with. I will keep at them until I achieve the desired results. Once in awhile, that may take a few attempts, but I think being relentless has its merits.
So to answer your question about mindsets, in my mind they already hypnotized, I merely bringing them where they will be in a moment or so for the rest of the people around me, and further, I speak in present and future tense terms, in other words "you will be dropping down into a state of Trance, simply following along." In this approach there is no hesitation, for in my mind they already there.
Personally, in a Speed-Trance environment, I find dragging things out like over explaining or testing, will only interfere with success. Get in there quickly, do what you have to, and get the results you need while working safely.
