Hi Folks, great to be part of this group.

I'd like to hear from people whats been their experience in using a fast paced talking style vs. a slow paced talking style.

Today I had 2 clients were right from the get go i just fast paced my talking, and 30sec to 2 minutes afterwards they were totally melted, visibly melted, gone.
I also asked them during my first round of fractionation, what did they feel during the beginning ... answer:  "I don't know.  I don't remember at all."
I had seen this client once before.

Usually I have a slower pace great tonality and accentuation, however I don't get that level of flacidness and melting so quickly like I saw today.

Would love to hear all your ideas and experiences regarding fast paced talking vs. slow paced talking?

Is it possible to achieve a greater degree of trance (hypnotic state) using fast paced talking?

Thanks in advance for your response
Best,
Miguel

I don'r know if speed has much to do with it, I think It's more finding a style that' works for you. Of course Machine gun John Cerbone is very comfortable with fast talking and does a great job of it and leaves a bunch of loose limp bodies in his wake. On the other hand if you have ever seen Terry Stokes perform you would see that by the time that last white Puffy cloud disappeared over the horizon, the body count is pretty well up there too. Find a style that is comfortable for you. It's really all about you.

I talk fast normally so I use that..If I slow my pace its not natural for me. So I talk faster so they don't have time to evaluate or try to figure it out. A confusion Technique especially for the analytical person. I feel the slower the talk the person doesn't go deeper as expected..faster melts them into place..just my thoughts..

Thank you Pattie for your words. I feel I have just made a personal discovery in talking fast that will really
make an enormous positive change for my clients.
I am now going to test talking fast with the convincers I use in the session, see how people respond.

Thanks, Miguel
I have been answering this question privately on some emails for quite some time.
I naturally speak very fast, there are many reasons for this --
I'm from New York City, many things happen very fast around here,
and also my mind works very quickly, and most often efficiently,
as well as having grown up in a family of people with quick minds who also speak fast,
in schools and In neighborhoods were others also speak quickly. .
There is research which I had read many years ago, stating that almost any person is capable of hearing 80 times faster than any human being possibly can speak, including myself, LOL
There is a school of thought, where some within our profession believe an individual to be hypnotized, even if it's a Speed-Trance induction needs time to digest what you are saying.
I disagree. The subconscious mind is fully capable of understanding faster than anyone can speak, remember, as well as interpret, and even completely digest information at that rate of speed.
In my humble opinion, if you give someone enough time to digest what you were saying, you are perhaps giving them the opportunity, to pull themselves out of Trance. If they are digesting your suggestions, there is a stronger possibility that they will be critically reasoning, which means using the conscious mind which additionally means pulling themselves out of trance.
So to respond to what Hugh has stated in this post, and may rattling off like a machine gun, but in my experience at the hypnotize in thousands and thousands of people, my suggestions are taken, accepted, and responded to in great impact and high order. Yes you can deliver them slowly, but no, you do not want to allow so much time as to allow critical reasoning to take place there by losing the Trance state. But I hope that clarifies my view for you on this subject.
hey, it works for me, as well as the people I work with, in sessions, in shows, industry trends, in demonstrations, and with those I' train. It's hard to argue with success.

here's my opinion, tho i do agree with john on the critical thinking, i belive that slow talking allows the person to relax even more especially with a monotoned voice. im a very anylitcal person and my mind processes things very quickly but many times over. this is just my opinion and id love feedback. also if anyone knows any good training videos that would help me to learn to do instant inductions that would be very much apreciated. thanks
Drath,

Fast or slow is really a matter of what works for you. I like being able to do either one, depending on the situation. I'm currently working on a stage show induction that has to happen in five minutes or less, so I've been channeling Machine-Gun-Mouth Cerbone lately. :-) But my CDs tend to have the nice slow pretty voice . . .

As for videos, get Cerbone and Nongard's Speed Trance, duh. I don't get a kick-back, so I can say that. Also, Sean Michael Andrews and Anthony Jacquin have some excellent materials.

For me both ways work, talking fast or slow. Talking slow is great for building expectations wich can be very hypnotic and to me it's a challenge to use pauses and absorb full attention, it's also a matter of good timing. Talking fast I like to use to overload the concious mind and piggy back hypnotic or positive suggestions.

To me it is about combining the right pace with other techniques at the same time. When I talk fast I tend to use more language patterns in a high density. When I talk slow I'm using more analoge marking and anchoring at the same time. My experience is that some people go deep by talking fast and some by talking slow, so I don't think one is better than the other, it's a matter of good observation what is happening with the subject and being flexible as a hypnotist and react to that, I think. Sometimes when I expiriment with conversational hypnosis, I switch my tempo from fast to slow and the other way around, and people don't notice any difference in their hypnotic experience because their attention is totaly absorbed by the words I'm saying and the suggestions I'm giving.

I've a very nice personal experience as a subject with Stephen Brooks, he didn't use many words, talked at a comfortable slow and nice pace (with many long pauses), and I can tell you I went very deep and did some great learnings, all in 15 minutes... It was like the hypnotic state was building it self in the silent moments... very nice

Miguel,
It may also have to do with the subject. I would look for EACs (Eye Accessing Cues) to see if the subject is an aural or visual thinker. If his eyes go to the side (not up or down, but left or right), I think a rapid induction would work well, and fast talking may be almost necessary. Looking to the left or right means that he is an audio-based learner, so he can interpret and absorb information faster and better than the subject who thinks in images. On the other hand, if the subject looks up when thinking, he may respond better by inductions that involve envisioning peaceful places, and that can require you to speak slower so they can picture everything you say.
I hope this helps!
Tim
