A whopping 85 percent of men rate themselves as good or excellent in the sack - but somebody forgot to tell their female partners, according to a massive new survey.
Almost half of the women polled said "very few" of the men they've been with are good in bed, according to research conducted jointly by Shape magazine and Men's Fitness.
"There's this disparity that keeps popping up," said Ariane Marder, a Men's Fitness editor who worked on the poll.
The 2009 Fitness Survey, which polled more than 10,000 male and female readers of both magazines, also found a shocking number of women and men are faking orgasms.
About 34 percent of men said they've faked it. That's up from 20 percent from the 2006 survey, the last time they conducted the poll.
How men cheat to the finish line is anyone's guess.
"Maybe with condoms?" guessed Marder.
Seven out of 10 women 'fessed up to faking their pleasure, and one in four said they pretended frequently.
"Men say they do because it's a macho ego thing, and women say they do because they want to go to sleep," said Mark Butler, 22, of Manhattan.
Meanwhile, seven in 10 men reported that they pleased their partners all the time.
Sadly, the sexes ranked nearly the same in one category: cheating.
Almost equal numbers of men and women admitted being unfaithful - 42 percent and 41 percent, respectively.
Still, the gals are much more willing to forgive.
Only 5 percent of men said they could get over it, compared with 37 percent of women.
Men are also less forgiving when it comes to a woman's appearance.
About 63 percent of men said they prefer their ladies in shape, while only 29 percent of women said their lover's buffness was important to them.
Almost half of the women said other attributes - such as humor, compassion and smarts - were more important.
Also, a majority of women rated doing chores around the house as more of a libido booster than traditional romance routes like sending flowers or chocolate, or even giving jewelry.

I would have liked to know the median age of the survey.
I'll go out on a limb here.
I can count the number of good lovers on part of one hand, but as a younger woman, I didn't communicate or take charge.I didn'tt know any more then my lover did or what I liked in a person or if I had a "type".
Now, sex is better because the empasis is not on the hot body, but in the brain. The educated, communicative, informative man who can make me laugh and feel comfortable around him, is the lucky one that can get and keep my attention and is darn sexy.
I have learned that I have physical preferences and the size of each mind matters. I don't have to fake it like I did when I was younger, which was ALL the time, yawn, because the total experience is not based on the outcome as to whether or not I achieve orgasm, unless my lover did turn out to be uninteresting after all.
As a single woman with no man in the house, I still want the jewelry. And if he did turn out to be boring, stopped doing the things that made me interested in the first place, he would therefore be a lousy lover because we lost the connection. Some bodies just work together better. No amount of technical "abilities" can make up for being bad in bed, so he better have a lot of jewlery to give to makeup for it before I dump him.;) Oh sorry, I thought I was on myspace.

Speaking as a Great "Lay" Hypnotist and teenager of the 60s- Jade,
Great sex is the sum total of 2 people sharing mental, physical and emotional processes that are well-integrated - these kind of connections are juicy and satisfying. The great news is all of us can learn to make better “connections” both internally and externally, better connections equals better sex!

LOL........................well, thats the rub isn;t it Michael............hahahaha but since I live in Colorado which seems to have a high level of poly amorus relationships and poly households, it takes more then two to tango. That 1-1 ration does not always apply. Personally, I like the sum total of two. I am old fashioned I guess. Or just selfish, somethings besides chocolate, I don't like sharing. Lol. am I on myspace again?

I live in Mesa... the biggest Mormon commty in Az.. and not to be quoted.. but thinks we are the second to Salt Lake. I once had the Smorgasboard... now I know what I want... I want one.. who rubs me the right way ... the left way .. up .. down.. ohhhhhhhhh hang on ... this isn't my space. Laffs so hard.. actually Mike.. I was a teenager of the 60s .. southern baptist raised.. so strict .. we didn't have a deck of playing cards in the house. ...
