I started my practice when I was 19 years old and after 8 years if has grown into a thriving business. My passion for hypnotism started after watching my sister in a demonstration achieve full body catalepsy and have the hypnotist stand on the small of her back (not recommending anybody doing this demo). After that my interest skyrocketed and I sought out certification. Since then I have become a non-smoker, achieved many athletic goals, academic goals, overcame fears of public speaking, create inner motivation to start a practice from scratch, had wisdom teeth removed and root canals done without anesthesia, and so much more through the power of hypnosis. When I got started, I never saw any young people at conventions, training programs and so on but now I see all kinds of youthful, energetic professionals popping up everywhere...it is so exciting to me. I'm always curious to know how people get started in this profession and how hypnosis has improved the quality of their lives. So I want to hear from the youth and future of hypnosis, come and post your story so everybody can learn more about the future superstars.

May everybody be blessed with happiness and success,
JW

John,

While I'm not young in age, I suppose I'm young in terms of years in profession. I've been doing hypnosis as a business for only 3 years now, but on the whole, I've been doing it since my mid-teens. In any case, thanks for the invite. I look forward to being a part of this.

Im excited you joined the group and I cant wait to hear about your growth in this profession. Any good books on NLP that you can recommend to other group members? I love the easy to read...The Magic of NLP Demystified. Thanks for contributing.

I have been a teacher for the past 8 years, a practicing hypnotherapist for the past two years. But, I always knew that words were always powerful and could change people. I was practicing NLP without even knowing it. It was so interesting to see the techniques that I was doing in my class, in different books I started studying from.
Hi John,

I think I was actually NLP'd into becoming a hypnotherapist! He he, just kidding, but it was definitely a good sales pitch! I actually called about sessions for my husband but by the end of the phone conversation I knew I had to learn more about this hypnosis stuff. (That's how good Beryl Comar is by the way!) I'd always been interested in healing and helping people and did up to Reiki level 2 when I was 18. I used it quite a lot and had some success with it but noticed the issues would crop up again after a while and I stopped practicing altogether. I always wanted to do healing work but thought you had to be a special type of person, see auras and that sort of thing! I never thought I could do something like that. Plus I was so shy I'd have cringed at the thought of using my voice so much! That was until a year ago when I got my NLP, EFT & hypnotherapy certification. I tried a few different career paths, makeup artist, mural artist, visual merchandiser, production assistant for a recording studio and finally graphic design. It was never enough though, just didn't fulfill me and I couldn't stand having a boss (probably an issue I need to work on!). I still design as I love it and it's a big part of me, comes in handy for my business and marketing materials too! I'm only just starting out now and as the only hypnotherapist and EFTer practicing in Al Ain, I already have the advantage! I'm always open to learning so the more pointers I can get, the better!!
Melissa,
Its so great to have you here. Sounds like you have had quite an interesting life and its only getting better by the day. I believe that everybody is called into this profession because we all have that special desire to help people and I am very excited for you that you are following your passions. Keep doing awesome things and keep changing lives!

Since I was young I always had a interest in personal development and in the mind. I grew up seeing stage hypnotists and magicians who 'claimed' to use hypnosis. This sparked my interest in hypnosis and was on and off for many years.

I got into real estate around the age of 18 right after high school, but many years later I become fustrated with my profession. I had lost the love I though I had for it. I have always been motivated and a take to action type of guy, but i was at a point in my life where I was starting to feel like, whats the purpose. So I started to do some soul searching and a few months later it came to me while relaxing on the couch. My interest was still personal development, the mind, self improvement and thinking outside of the box. I started to remember my experiences when I was younger and how I had seen a stage hypnotist once help a woman with a fear of snakes on TV.

I remember the look on this womans face as she had been to everyone else and no one could help her. I have always loved helping people. Since I was young I felt within a desire to do that. So for me it was almost a inner awareness that I must become a hypnotist. It was everything I loved in a profession. I could work for myself, build a business which I still enjoyed. I could help people, study the mind and it could lead me into all the fields I loved. So at the age of 19 I went full speed ahead and started reading everything I could. The internet played a big part for me, but as far as learning I wanted more, I wanted to become a master of hypnotic knowledge.

Eventually I got my hands on a great book which is hypnotherapy by Dave Elman and it changed the way I looked at hypnosis. Eventually this book and my research led me to Jerry Kein and from there people such as Stephen parkhill, Cal Banyan, Richard nongard, Tom Nicoli, Matt Sison, Rich Wilson and many others. Some of them through video training, other live training. I eventually got my certification with the National Guild of Hypnotists and The International Hypnosis Association. I than opened up my full time practice Southern Hypnosis and Consulting.

It was hard for me growing up as I was interested in this stuff when no one else was. It was even harder when I wanted to make this my profession as I had no one to help me locally. I didn't have a lot of money either so I had to be creative. Eventually I created a blog which helped me gain some small noritety, but it allowed me to network and build relationships with other hypnotists. Eventually I found my way here and my life has never been the same. I found a family that accepted me and I could talk hypnosis with anytime any day.

Since it was hard on me as a teenager interested in hypnosis I made it my goal to help educate the general public and provide gudience for teenagers. The reason I started my blog actually. Since than I have also become a Community Mentor for The IATH and I still continue to mentor a couple of younger hypnotists online. I also guest write for The Transparent Hypnotist blog and sites such as Trancedout. So I have finally found my calling and I love networking with younger hypnotists and I have always looked up to john from afar. Still I don't want to stop here. I want to continue to grown and advance beyond my mentors. I want to expand into things such as workshops, seminars, products and more. So you will be seeing lots more of me, yes I am confidence btw. So thanks for creating this little group and I look forward to talking more. Sorry so long, but i guess i needed to vent. Oh and did I mention i'm only 26 now :)

I believe that if you got "game" age is not an issue --

Hypnosis is a healing art and my advice to the young guns is trust yorselves, "question authority" and think outside of the box--

The future is in your hands -- make the most of it!
Michael, thanks for the excellent words of wisdom! Its an honor to have you a part of this group.
