I wanted to ask this question of the group. Is it possible to use hypnosis to bring about lucid dream? What is your view on this and if you have achieved this what techniques have you used.

Yes I've seen hypnosis used for this application.

Stephen LaBerge is still the most widely read guy on Lucid Dreaming, although he doesn't use hypnosis that I know of.

For self-hypnosis, give yourself the suggestion that you will become lucid at multiple points in the night and that you will remember that you were lucidly aware, and what you will be able to do.

For hypnosis with other people, induce somnambulism, and give suggestions about what happens when you are sleeping, and walk them through a lucid experience with some triggers for them to "wake up" within a dream.

Essentially most of it relies on using certain signs to know when you're dreaming... and mentally prepping yourself (as is the case with hypnosis) to be able to experience those dreams more regularly, or to notice yourself in the dreams and then to become somewhat lucid.

Pretty good ideas. I think that it'd be easier to go ahead and hypnotize them, condition them to be responsive to suggestion, lead them through all sort of mental tests, and then create a strong anchor:

From "trance" to "realizing they're in trance" (this is the meta-states stuff). Then have them pretend that they are dreaming and test it.. walk them through the process while they are hypnotized...

Then do direct suggestion - when you go to sleep, you will notice x, you will find y, you will wake up while you're dreaming and yet remain in the dream as long as you want.. In fact you'll find that these dreams will become clearer and more vivid in your mind.

As you know, when you go to .. sleep... you find that your eyes get heavy droopy and drowsy, and your unconscious mind brings you just to the right balance between totally unconscious and back to how you are now, where you can integrate all of my suggestions.
Hey what about taking lucid dreams that you have actually had and anchoring these experiences. Take a few LD's and anchor the surrealistic feeling. Then while going to bed, start visualizing a dream that you would like to have and fire off the anchor.
Thanks Josha, in response to your ? I will just say that one way to enchance the possibility of having Lucid Dreams is to keep a dream journal, and also to eat good protains before sleep, such as almonds (raw).
