I don't know about you, but it seems that those of us who practice in Vermont are very fragmented. For example, I don't know how many hypnotists and hypnotherapists there are in our state. That may seem an unknowable for folks in most states but we're pretty small, belonging to a pretty finite profession in a pretty friendly place.

Now it's not that we're unfriendly. Whenever I have called, been called by, or met with a colleague, they've been happy to share. Only once, after leaving two messages, did I simply never get a response. In any case, I seem to be the only one seeking out colleagues. Why IS that?

I dislike stepping on toes, since our marketplace is small also, so I contact others I know are practicing in my area. But I know there are others out there and I think our overall interests would be served if we had a clue what colleagues we have and where they are to be found.

I doubt this is something to worry about real soon, but what if an "Ontario" happened to us? Fragmented and isolated we have no voice; together, who knows. I am reminded of the fable of the strength of 7 sticks held together over that of each stick held alone.

So, where are you and who are you?

Cheers, Kerry

Hello, I'm Sean Patterson.
I'm currently attending Norwich University (near Montpelier) in my freshman year.
I'm certified with the NGH, but thanks to my situation here, I've had very little chance to practice therapeutic hypnosis; most of it has been for entertainment.
When I say "my situation," I mean that I'm in the corps of cadets here at Norwich as a Recruit; recruits are never allowed to leave campus besides academic breaks (midsemester, thanksgiving, christmas, etc).
It's nice to know there are others up here, and I look forward to meeting all of you.
