Pain Management

I am reading Elman's Hypnotherapy book and I am amazed with what I am reading. I would like to experience this type of anesthesia. Could someone recommend a good course or additional reading. Can one hypnotized themselves to induce anesthesia and if so how do I go about learning it? This all sounds unbelievable but I know it is true and now I am obsessed with learning how to do it.

Thanks,

David

I would like to have some advice and opinions on wire less microphones. What are some of you using? I would also like to know how much I should spend for a microphone if I am just starting out and don't have much money?

Thanks

The best advice I can give you is to ask questions of everyone here at HypnoThoughts as you start your practice. And, never stop your training. Attend conferences and the HypnoSummit her at HT. If you are wanting to consider existing programs, a number of us have them available (my weight loss program is Slender For Life™).

Feel free to email me or message me privately with specific questions and I am happy to offer my assistance. I'm glad you are here.

Melissa,

Thanks for the kind invitation. I am enjoying meeting all of you on this site. I have always been interested in hypnosis and remember swinging a watch in front of my mother when I was about 5 or 6. She either went into trance or feel asleep but it scared me to death and I shook her and told her to wake up. I did not mess with hypnosis again until I went into the Navy in 1968 and I learned self hypnosis to be able to sleep in an open barracks with lots of noise all the time late into the night.

I was teaching at a high school in Lincoln, Illinois in 2004 and watched a stage hypnosis show that rekindled my desire to learn more. Always before I thought it was a particular skill like being a magician, but now with 7 years of formal education I started looking at it academically. It did not take me long to realize this was something I might be able to do and in 2005 I stumbled across HMI's free online certification course which I immediately enrolled in. After completing the course I just made up my mind I was going to be a hypnotist and started looking for volunteers. After hypnotizing a few students, I hit the clubs and bars and got my baptism by fire. I learned a lot since thing and when I watch some of my old videos that I made in the bars, I can't believe the inductions I used to use. But, it didn't take me long to move from progressive relaxation to rapid inductions, to instant inductions, all of which I learned by watching videos!!! I am a believer in distance education.

Welcome to the neighborhood. There's a lot to learn here and nice people who are willing to share their knowledge and expertise. I'm curious about what got you interested in hypnosis in the beginning. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Hi David,
I don't do street or stage hypnosis. I am full time in a clinical practice mostly focused on medical hypnosis, especially weight loss. It has been somewhat slower in this economy, but it is how I support my family. 65% of the US population is still overweight. The customers are out there. In our area, there aren't many smokers so I only have about 6 stop smoking sessions in a year.

I hope this helps answer your question - feel free to ask more.
