More specifically; what important “piece”, if any, was left out of your formal training that you wish you’d been taught by your instructors?  A little nugget of wisdom that would have made all the pieces fit just a bit better…something you now know and use frequently.Conversely, what one piece did you get from your instructors/formal training that you’ve applied consistently…that gem of insight, a twist on a technique…something significant that brings it all together? Thanks,DougSee More

Good Morning Doug from my side of the world;-)
I have been having wonderful success using a Breathing Induction Technique.
I start my clients face up and began working on arms and hands as we discuss specifics. If they are 1st timers, I ask them to allow themselves to enjoy the session without worrying about going into trance, to give themselves permission to just relax. Then I sit at their heads, holding their forehead with my R hand and the occipital with my L hand and begin the breath induction. Afterwards when they are feeling absolutely wonderful, I explain that they have just experienced a light trance and if they wish, they may go into deeper and deeper relaxation with each session. Of course, the PHS has already been added. Some of the things I found to be useful, is to suggest their breathing is normal, natural and clear, their sinuses healthy etc., so when its time to turn them over, they can still breath easily. I works almost every time! I know I get kind of stuffy when I am face down.
Well we are having a nice winter storm here and my 20 min. drive to work has become a 40 min. drive;-(
All the best to you Doug, and have a terrific holiday.

Greetings "D", from a Winter Wonderland.
I was curious Doug as to what technique did the massage therapist use on you?

Good Morning Doug,
Sorry about my delayed response to your last message, I got caught up in the "goings on" around the holiday.
I have been using a technique that works with the client lying down on the table ready for a massage session. I really haven't thought to have a full blown hypno session before hand with PHS.
I start with breath work, guiding a person into a relaxed state through rhythmic breathing and verbal encouragement. It seems to work well, particularly for those who are a little uncertain about hypnosis. It takes them as far as they are comfortable and then massage helps them go deeper.
I would however, like to get my clients into deeper trance. I worked on a gal yesterday who, when I got to the part about not being able to open her eyes even if she tried, they popped right open! Kind of startled me, LOL, but I treated at as part of the routine and didn't miss a beat. She is older, about 70 and has a controlling type personality.
Yes, I am still working on a technique and would love to experience a hypno-massage myself. My search for one in this area has come up empty.
Have a great day Doug and again, my apologies for not responding sooner.

Hi Doug,
Wow, good to know another massage therapist who uses Hypnosis!
I find 90 min. sessions work the best as well. I like to converse with the client before the session, to get an idea what they expect and then discuss their experience afterwards. I also take notes.
If you don't mind my asking, what is your technique for inducing trance?
Don't cha love it;-)

Hi Doug! Thanks for your message. I'm enjoying my training through Apositiva. Cat and Rich are great and very motivational. Rich did an allergy clearing on me yesterday and I'm breathing much better. It's good to hear from a fellow hypho nut here in Portland and yes, I have eaten at Savage House Pizza in Cheney...better than Gattos. Not sure if it's still there tho. Take care!
