There is visibility for those who choose to see with open eyes. Awareness leads to self recovery. Honest feedback is a significant factor. As the critical mass wakes up and learns how to avoid evoking personal attacks, all will surely be better.…

Well put, Don.  Dialogue is necessary for inquiring minds and for learning.  The only problem that I've ever seen is when a discussion devolves into personal attacks.  Susan   ps: I always get a kick out of the fact that the…

Most people think of scientists as dispassionate seekers after truth. But Edwin G. Boring, in his book, A History of Psychology, likened scientists to attorneys in a courtroom trial, each of which was busy collecting facts to ram them down the…

Is your client ready for change?

Posted on March 1, 2009 at 5:30am 0 Comments

The ideal hypnotherapy client is someone who has clear goals and knows that they are participating in the process of change.

It would be nice if all our clients fell into this category but they don't.

Solution focused therapy makes use of three different categories so that you can make the best use of your time with your client.

The three types are; visitor, complainant and customer.

Visitor: "In this relationship the worker(hypnotherapist) and client… Continue

The Bull Sh*t Funnel

"I studied the lives of great men and women, and I found that the men and women who got to the top were those who did the jobs they had in hand, with everything they had of energy and enthusiasm and hard work."

Harry S. Truman

1884-1972, Thirty-Third U.S. President

While I agree with President Truman, I have an addition - it is not only about working hard with enthusiasm, it is also working hard at what works!

Many time I have heard people say, 'When I get… Continue

Smooth seas do not make a good sailor...

Posted on February 21, 2009 at 5:03am 3 Comments

Yup, it's true and we are all in rough seas right now so we all have the chance at improving our sailing skills.

Every where I turn practitioners are having a tough time making ends meet but not me...my practice is packed. 27 hours a week (which by the way, according to research in the service industry is MAX. any more leads to diminishing returns) with a waiting list and I AM NOT SPECIAL.

Here is what most people do. They market their work and then when they are full they… Continue

She wanted a baby....

Posted on January 17, 2009 at 7:53am 3 Comments

IVF, Acupuncture, all had failed her in her attempts at having a baby...

33 year old women in fairly good health wanted to be a mother so badly she was basically making herself completely stressed out.

She had a baby that did not make it. She had been trying ever since.

We worked through the entire process of the loss of her first child and helped her really embrace the fact that she was already a mother, even though her child had passed.

After that she was still… Continue

I want Mr. Right, but I am only finding Mr. Right now..

Posted on January 12, 2009 at 7:22am 1 Comment

37 year old professional women. Well put together.

Depressed about her relationship status...."it's going no where"

She would meet people, go out on dates, get into a relationship with them...and would eventually break up.

This was not a case of traumatized child hood, bad parenting, or a father that did not show her love. This was a skills issue.

She had not clarified what she wanted in a partner...I call it the list of non-negotiables. These are the must… Continue

Eric,
Thank you for the invite. I appreciate the rich spiritual background and "relationships" experience you bring to the community. And I also like the piece of wisdom you close with in some of you replies "except when it is not".
