Henxy Sorry for a lack of contributions - I have been away for a few days... Totally agree - if peeps with IBS significantly reduce their calcium intake they risk heart failure!!! What is he playing at and milk does NOT (sorry to shout) cause IBS!…

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! He's on Twitter, suggesting that people follow 'hypnosisclinic' (which is also him!), spreading his crap about how foods like milk cause IBS(!?) and plugging his 'trial' big time (I'm sure it's all kosher- no really I am). And the…

What are you looking for on this site?
Friendship, networking, sharing of ideas, mutual support. Meeting those with a similar perspective to my own, and being challenged by those with different ideas.
Areas of Specialty:
Setting up an IBS service, working with other health care professionals to give patients the best experience possible (well, that's the aim, anyway!).
About Me:
I'm an experienced intensive care, colorectal, upper GI and vascular surgical nurse who wanted a change in direction.

Now I've got it! I love nursing, I love making a real difference to peoples' lives by combining my hypnotherapy skills and my nursing ones. My nursing background informs my hypnosis (and gives me credibility in medical circles), and my hypnotherapy background makes me an interesting nurse to work with!

Spending quality time with my wonderful husband and bunnies, photography, gardening, walking, chatting...

Frowning Today: It's NOT An Upside Down Smile!

Today, I got some new referrals for my clinic. Interesting, challenging. Yay! Or so I thought.

Then came a comment from a dr who didn't want to do the blood tests as recommended (not entirely sure why).

And then came the information that another dr wanted to know why 'we' had employed a hypnotherapist (note scorn), and not a district nurse.

The fun response is because DNs don't know anything about hypnosis as a rule. The real re… Continue

Rock On: It Just Keeps Getting Better... Better Everyday! (All sing along!)

Well, what a wonderful time it is!
One of my patients got the job I future paced them through the interview of (after them being convinced they'd not get it)!
Another said my treatment was 'absolutely brilliant'.
Someone else has reduced their medication down to a third of what they were on before they first saw me.

Oh, and my headrest arrived last Thursday, the engineers came to install the lightswitch today, and, most excitingly, my name is now on the clinic room door!… Continue

They Seek it Here, They Seek it There... That Damned Elusive Pimper-Headrest!

And it's nearing the end of another week.

My patients have made extraordinary achievements this week. I'm so pleased for them!

I've got a couple more people on my books, and some waiting in the wings for blood tests before booking in.

Still no sign of this darned headrest, though! I have had a chat with the manufacturer, who said it should have been with me by Wednesday at the latest... Couriered; so no chance of it being lost in the regular postal

Slowly, Slowly, Catchee Monkey...

Things are working out...

The lighting engineer is coming next week to discuss my requirements and provide costings (seriously hoping that they're not prohibitive).

The level of lighting remains fine for the patients; but I think I could really enhance their experience if they didn't have interrogation lighting blasting at them!

The headrest for the chair is due by Monday... On the second order! Somehow, it slipped through the procurement/

Hypno Helps Those who Help Themselves

...To paraphrase something Biblical!

It's wonderful to hear about the little achievements which represent big changes to my patients... To see those achievements reflected in their smiles and the twinkle in their eyes which tell me that life is getting better for them.

When they tell me that the CD I gave them has made them realise something, which they then dealt with... When they say that the CD helps them to relax so deeply... When they say that they have thought about something I said, and… Continue

I would say a good start would be understanding the hypnosis/trance mechanism, knowing how and why what you are doing works. Understanding this, means there is nothing that you have to memorize. John
