R.I.P. Dr. Don Jay Hunter

The first message ever posted on this site was a note of remembrance I posted for one of my great friends and teachers, Janet Macy. Today I find myself in a similar place as I did just over a year ago. One of my greatest teachers in life, and a man who has had a profound impact on the person I am and hope to be, is gone.

Dr. Don Hunter passed away today at the age of 92. His wife of almost seventy years and two of his three children were by his side in his hospital room. For those of us who lov… Continue

A few ideas to GET MORE CLIENTS

With the current economy and the holidays upon us, I hear hypnotists talking about, "the slow season" or the dead time before new years resolutions and wonder, "what are they talking about?" Some are even talking about lowering their rates just to stay busy. That just doesn't make sense to me at all.

Last December was my busiest month of the entire year. This one isn't quite as packed as last year, but I'm seeing 16 clients this week (3 had to reschedule to next week due to flu or family… Continue

The 10 Blogging Commandments

Just thought I would pass this on to all of you. I think it is great advice for members of this site, just change a few words here and there to make it HypnoThoughts specific.

Here ya go:

...The Times Online is reporting that church leaders for the Evangelical Alliance have drawn up ten blogging commandments, meant to mimic the ten commandments that were delivered to Moses by God at the top of Mount Sinai.

Each of the commandments takes its inspiration from the real ten commandments:

1. Y

The Economy and Referrals

With the economy doing what it's doing, I am soooo grateful that I have the docs referring to me. My general stress, motivation, etc. clients are down as people tighten their spending. Fortunately, 9 clients this week are straight from medical referals and I have my meeting about the next series of groups and the drug rehab center next week.

9 extra clients a week and 6 weeks of twice a week group sessions is a great addition to a private practice. If you are so inclined, I highly recommend you… Continue

I'm having the same problems as Nancy getting access to the referral page.

Scott, what incantation or burnt offering do we need to make for access to that list?

Lyle,

I've tried several times to enter into your referral page. I go to the referral page, click Add Entry.
It tells me: You are not logged in and therefore you cannot add an entry.
Please login or register.
I login and click Add Entry. But it continues to display: You are not logged in and therefore you cannot add an entry. Please login or register.

I've not been able to get around this. Am I doing something wrong? Or, does the site have a glitch?
I am looking forward to signing up and need your help.
thank you,
Nancy Mac

Hi Scott,
Just wondering if I could get a corrected copy of my certificate for the 40 hours CEU,for the global summit, my name was misspelled really bad. I did send an email request to Melissa Roth if it could be corrected & she sent a reply that she had forwarded it to you. This was sent last May 5, 2009. Hope that you could find the time just to correct the spelling of my name. Thanks in advance. You have really been doing a lot of great works for all hypnotherapist & I am really grateful.
My full name is Josefina Sycip.

Hello Scott,

It's been awhile, but I'm back on hypnothoughts! I have just added myself to the new directory, however the information is not posted. I can only find my posting by typing my name into the search box. When I go to Michigan directory, it is not there???? Oh my, what do I do now? Your friend and fan, Kim

Hi Scott...I just completed my profile for the HypnoThoughts Professional Directory, and have a couple of questions, as I'm not sure I filled it in correctly. I did get this error message "The uploaded file has a not allowed extention and therefore was not added. All changes saved". Also, in the section for HypnoThoughts Profile, is that suppose to be my Member #3722? Thanks for your assistance, Scott!

Hey Scott, First of all thanks for creating this great site. I appreciate the value it adds to our profession as well as your participation on the IMDHA mentorship group. I am confused about the referal site. I added my profile twice and do not appear as of yet. Is there a delay or approval process associated with it? Thanks, Lynn

Thanks for inviting.)) It's the very good place.I like it. Pity just one: that I know English not very-very good and that fact makes my conversation longer then I want. But I sincerely glad that I find here a good Intelligent and smart company))

Yes Scott, it is considered unethical to pay for referrals (in my opinion). How would you feel if you found out someone you trusted to be making decisions in your best interest was motivated or influenced by personal financial gain? I know I would...
I honestly don't believe hypnotherapists compete with each other. The market is so far from saturated and the amount of variety and specialty of practitioners means we will never have a shortage of clients (at least not in the foreseeable future)....

Hi Don, Another view is; that since hypnosis is not a religious practice, suggestions are not "believed", but are instead, simply reacted to when the subject is in a trance state. I understand why someone who is not a hypnotist would think that b...
