This is very powerful.
I think the need to "let people down gently" ends up discrediting the professional to a certain degree (I've seen it, and felt it). The paradox is: Firm, clear boundaries actually bring them back for more -- whereas white lie…
What I read in some of the above replies, is a tendency to tell a "white lie" to get the client to simply "Get out!".
I question the effectiveness of this kind of behavior, because your unconscious behavior will send a bad example and a weak message…

I lived in Glen Burnie for two years. I loved going down to the harbor . It was my favorite getaway. I gotta say the whole place was awesome. Going on the Metro over to Dc and hitting the exhibits at the museums... all of it. I love it out here also.
