Jimmy, If you remember, in my theory I talk about Skinner's definition of hypnotic induction as a procedure of conditioning in a state of heightened belief by getting an individual to go through a series of suggestions each of which produces a positive response. And I point out that Pavlov used principles of higher-order conditioning to explain hypnosis. I think you will find my Commentary on my theory of hypnosis article (on my website, www.spccenter.com) also of interest, especially where I use my theory to throw further light on a comprhensive theory of learning and conditioning.

Jimmy,

Thank you for your kind words regarding my 2001 article. Was this my theory of hypnosis paper? I assume it was as it is the only article I have with that date. As for other articles of mine on conditioning, you might want to look at my 1973 article entitled "Posthypnotic suggestion as higher-order conditioning: a methodological and experimental analysis", published in the International Journal of Clinical & Experimental Hypnosis (1973).
