Sean, I am part of a group of hypnotists at the Jersey Shore who meet at my office once a month. Topics we've covered include challenging cases, inductions, weight loss, smoking and marketing ideas. One thing that we've found helpful is to…

Angela, I like your site! What you may want to consider in the future is some sort of giveaway such as a free report where a visitor has to supply their email address to get it. Then you can do a follow up mailing of some sort. A lot of times people…

James Malone replied to Gareth Sammer's discussion 'How long each session should you spend talking to the client?'
Gareth, no set rule but on average I spend about an hour on the first visit and probably 30-40 minutes on follow up sessions. Of course the session is adjusted to whatever the client presents, sometimes it seems that as much is…

James Malone replied to Doug Walker's discussion 'Anynoe useing Thumbtack.com to generate any business?'
Doug, I looked them up and I would advise some caution. Not only do they charge a fee per lead (with no guarantee the lead is a good or valid one) they are also apparently entitled to an 8% commission on your fees if you end up doing business…

James Malone replied to Pattie Freeman CH.t, MST's discussion 'A Warning about this man'
Pattie, very smart on your part to refuse. Its hard to tell whether this is a prank or if the guy is serious. If it is the latter, despite his assurances the hypnotist would most definitely be considered an accessory to fraud.  It could also be…

Ian, I usually like to spend about 10-15  minutes or so on the initial phone consult and cover much of what Katherine Zimmerman shared on this thread. Jim

Study Finds Link Between Chronic Pain and Smoking

Posted on December 27, 2011 at 7:02am 0 Comments

I came across this article today and thought it might of interest to anyone working smoking and/or chronic pain.

Study Finds Link Between Chronic Pain and Smoking

Women who smoke heavily are more likely to experience chronic pain, according to a recent study at the University of Kentucky.

Over 6,000 Kentucky women were surveyed on their smoking habits and symptoms of chronic pain.…

Scam Alert 1-800 727-3757

Posted on December 13, 2011 at 10:13am 6 Comments

Wanted to give everyone a heads up on a scam attempt I encountered today. I received a message from a "Judy" who stated that she was working with Blue Cross/Blue Shield employees who need a hypnotherapist for things like smoking, wt loss and stress reduction. The call back # she provided was 1 800 727 3757 (although the # on caller ID was (631) 941-4613.)

Being the world renowned author of the "Little Book of Scams: Swindling for Fun and Profit" I did my due diligence and ran those…

What's Your Story?

Posted on December 9, 2011 at 8:59am 1 Comment

Recently a colleague of mine, Bob Hertzendorf, related an interesting story about someone he was able to help via hypnosis counseling.

Bob's client was a retired military man who had achieved a high rank during a long and distinguished career serving our country. Having undergone abdominal surgery the week before, this individual developed a severe and disabling case of hiccups which standard medical treatment had been unable to remedy. (Anyone who has ever had a persistent bout of…

Tinnitus Tragedy

Posted on November 18, 2011 at 7:30am 1 Comment

I came across this article today from the Telegraph in the UK and was saddened by it. A well-trained professional hypnotist who understands tinnitus can greatly help those who suffer with it.

Father of two Robert McIndoe, 52, was unable to sleep for three months after going to a rock concert that left him with a permanent ringing in his ear. He was watching supergroup 'Them Crooked Vultures' at Brixton Academy.

In the coming months Mr McIndoe faced an uphill…

Health Months Resource

Posted on October 20, 2011 at 4:37am 0 Comments

I just came across a link that lists the health conditions focused upon in a given month, example "National Kidney Health Day" or "Diabetes Awareness Week" and so on.

This could be helpful in planning press releases or to schedule public talks if an area of your particular expertise coincides with one of these events-just be sure to give yourself plenty of lead time.

Re: type size problem.
My (tethered to my cell phone)-laptop has no mouse, no wheel or ball and no up/down keys....it does have a control Key.
the "text size" option in the pull down "view" is already at smallest.
My brain is having a hard time keeping a thought going as I scroll down from MegaSized word to the next MegaSized word!
thanks for your concern, still open to more hints (can't afford a newer laptop at this time and electronics don't do well with a tap from a hammer-pity. )
