JayDee's Celebrity Endorsements IV

In the world of entertainment, people use celebrities to endorse themselves. Some of these are true endorsements, some are not. You can write to most celebrities, ask for an autographed photo and they will send it (sometimes with a personalized message) at your request. For the average person, this is no big deal, but what happens when someone uses this to make money by bringing up their status with bogus endorsements? It does happen, another hypnotist I knew told me how it was done, I presume…See More

Great comments! I think any one of us can remember the first hypnosis show we attended as a spectator. The first stage hypnotist I ever saw was Peter Reveen (who used progressive relaxation). As someone who had never seen hypnosis demonstrated in a…

Hi JayDee I do a 8 minute progressive relaxation induction. I've never had anyone tell me it was boring. In fact right around the 4 minute mark when the audience can see their head start dropping you can hear a pin drop. From the time I hit the…

My initial training, many moons ago, was that a stage induction had to be completed in four minutes or less. Mine was around 2 1/2 - 3 minutes. Over the years, I have increased the amount of time I spend on the induction. While it is not a PR…

I agree with JayDee & Jonathan. My induction is somewhere inbetween and this depends on my audience make-up and the size of the audience. Progressive relaxation boring? To who? Other hypnotists as JayDee says? I believe, as Richard Nongard…

it is down to the hypnotists ability to make what they do dramatic and or amusing, but certainly entertaining. I guess we've all seen both but, it is about sstyle more than anything else, and finding the one that works for you. There is no…

PMR doesn't have to be slow, either--I often throw a very quick PMR in as a deepener when I'm doing street hypnosis.

I favor the PMR induction in stage hypnosis. It's easy, non-threatening and works. Terry Stokes has been using it for 40 years, and he has perhaps hypnotized more people than any other stage hypnotist in US history. Yu are 100% correct, in that…

Progressive Relaxation In Stage Hypnosis

Posted on April 10, 2010 at 4:28pm 9 Comments

Lately I have been hearing and reading alot of people in the stage hypnosis business talking about progressive relaxation. Some love, some hate it. Here is what should be the final word. In a show if you manage to put your volunteers into a deep trance in a reasonable amount of time without boring the audience does it matter how you do it? If I eat a banana over 5 minutes and all my volunteers go into trance is it wrong? Absolutely not! Do what works for you and your stage persona, if your…

10 Ways To Tell If Your Career As A Stage Hypnotist Is Skyrocketing

Posted on January 27, 2009 at 5:36pm 6 Comments

10. You get people buying you drinks, which you would love to accept, but you actually have to drive to another gig that night (for real).

9. You have a stage mascot (even if it’s just some dude dressed like pita bread).

8. During the show most people forget who you are (as opposed to before the show when they did not know either).

7. You have a dressing room (even though it’s a broom closet with a paper sign on it and your name printed in crayon).

6. Some people will not… Continue
