Jenny Lynn replied to Bill Kennedy's discussion 'Ready! Fire! Aim!' in the group Part Time Practice
Lovely busy group Bill! I think one of the problem about setting up in practice is that as a profession there is a very poor support network in place for those who are fresh out of training.  I've met so many hypnotherapists who…

This group is open to everyone, regardless of their current level of hypnotic responsiveness, who would like to develop their hypnotic abilities even more, for the enhancement of human potential, the ennoblement of the human spirit, and the fulfillment of human existence. Members are expected to remain within commonly-accepted levels of civil discourse. Rudeness, personal attacks, or hijacking a thread for the sole purpose of gratifying one's own vanity will result in suspension or termination…See More

Jenny Lynn replied to Steve G. Jones's discussion 'Hypnotherapy Regulation'
Yes. Agree again Dan.  I've just been offered a fellowship at the National Council of Psychotherapists in the UK which I have accepted.  One of my expected roles is to help shape up our organisation to make sure we are maintaining…

Jenny Lynn replied to Steve G. Jones's discussion 'Hypnotherapy Regulation'
Hi Bill, Not read the whole of your discussion here, but responding to your comment. I agree with you here. I have trained many of my fellow hypnotherapists in CPD and am shocked at the variation in capacity and competency.  It's not only…

Jenny Lynn replied to Steve G. Jones's discussion 'Hypnotherapy Regulation'
Hi Michael, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think we need to grow as a profession and find some confidence in ourselves.  When we become a cohesive and confident group of professionals, we decide how we want to work.  I don't see…

Jenny Lynn replied to Karan Dwivedi's discussion 'Beginner to this amazing world'
Karan, You have many great traditions in your country of finding your inner focus and believing in your inner self.  That's what you are asking for essentially.  Once you are centred and calm in yourself, you can always manage social…

Jenny Lynn replied to Nathan Welch's discussion 'The Importance of Personality?'
Hi Alonzo, Yes. It needs us. And it needs our insight and our intuition and a certain presence that makes another person want to learn from us.  How many times do I hear supervisees asking me which technique they need next or how do they close…

Jenny Lynn replied to Nathan Welch's discussion 'The Importance of Personality?'
Is it personality Nat or is it the ability to self reflect?  In my opinion one has to have the ability to reflect, to enter into an energetic relationship with a client that doesn't get muddied with their stuff, and to still stay in…

Practice Building

Dear all, going from 0 clients to a full practice in 1 year.....how many of you did it here? I didn't.  Took me several years and a developmental process to be able to say my practice was full.  What is your experience?  I am hosting a free teleseminar tomorrow night with a Uk Hypnotherapist who did get a full practice in a year if anyone wants to listen in?Best WishesJennywww.theopenmindtherapist.comSee More

Jenny Lynn replied to Jenny Lynn's discussion 'Depression: What is it and how do we treat it?'
It's very seductive to consider mental and emotional disturbances as illnesses.  And indeed, it is only because these states of mind have received medical attention and been classified as medical disorders that they are at all being taken…

Hypnosis Experience:
Full Time Practice
What are you looking for on this site?
Camraderie with other therapists. And inspired students who want to learn to multiskill and develop as a therapist.
Areas of Specialty:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, ME, Integrative therapy, including psychotherapy (gestalt, cbt, psychodynamic) counselling (person centred, humanistic, eclectic), EMDR, NLP, And Supervision for fellow hypnotherapists
About Me:
I am a professional integrative therapist using a range of skills: psychotherapy, counselling & hypnotherapy. As I'm not model bound, the client dictates the way I work so that I can tailor a treatment progression that most suits their style and personality. I've been in the business for 9 years and have been training professionals for around 7 of those years in my specialism, Chronic Fatigue. I also teach Integrative Therapy which supplies a range of intuitive skills to underpin Hynpotherapy knowledge. My background, prior to re-training into therapy, was as a high school teacher, teaching Spanish and German in the UK. I live near London: about 50 miles to the North East in a sleepy town called Great Dunmow. I have worked with our local GPs (or MDs in the US) and have frequently been referred patients through their surgery both paid by our National Health Service and privately. This is quite unusual in the UK: many alternative therapists don't find much favour with the medical people. So I consider myself a bit of a ground breaker here! I live with my 13 year old daughter together in our little house in Dunmow and I work from my office at home. I am also a practising buddhist of 26 years this September! Where has the time gone?! My buddhist practice underpins my therapy and I find it causes me to see who people really are without the social veneer. As a result, I observe the games people play quite quickly and work to create solutions where only games used to exist.
Hobbies:
I enjoy gardening. I have danced latin, ballroom and ceroc for many years. I play the guitar and sing. And I enjoy running or jogging. I take part in alot of buddhist meetings though that's not quite a hobby but it does take up my time outside of work.

Thank you so much for your detailed comments. Yes, Canada is also unregulated and I'm looking for the right sources of certification, beyond the framed piece of paper.
