Just to note that if a client's fear of needles is due to blood-injection-injury phobia then there's a high probability that they have experienced neurocardiogenic syncope (read: fainting) one or more times in the past due to it, and this…

This is what I love about your comments, Adrian. I admit that often I use certain techniques because 1. I learned them from credible sources and felt comfortable using them 2. I gained experience of success 3. I actually understand WHY they…

Hi Jim, Yes that would be similar. What I did was to show her how she could remove the sensation of any kind of discomfort in one area of her arm. The usual convincer for pain removal. And then I told her she could rub any part of her body to…

Hiya, I use this technique more than any other - I find it just works ... Here's an article detailing how I use it. I pretty much follow Kelley's steps, but dispense with the cinema imagery (I find it superfluous) and instead go for CCTV…

Kelley, This is a really good breakdown of the FPC. I have found it is very effective if you have the subject start the movie someplace where they are comfortable and safe, and after encountering the fear event, ending up comfortable and safe again.…

Hi Jim, There are a number of ways that you can address this problem and the ways mentioned so far are definitely workable solutions. I recently worked with a young woman that recently became pregnant and she had developed a fear of needles,…

I think using the FPC movie theater approach is a great tool. Kelley's version is a good representation of the different ways you can do it. I would add a talk to the Sub Conscious along the lines of " This was a useful reaction when you…

Hi Jim, Let the client create the story, based on his most recent experience of the phobic reaction. Perhaps it was the last time he received an injection. If he can't recall it, he can base it on what he thinks it will be like. Most likely,…

Thanks Kelley for taking the time to give me that detailed reply. That is the format that I have used. I wonder ...what should the actual content of the film be? Should it be a painless and successful injection experience or the clients past ,…

Hi Jim, This is the method I generally use: 1. Give subject a remote control and have him see an image of self in B/W just before the response 2. Change a submodality (add color, movement, etc.) to elicit the response. Find the one that will…

Whichever approach you use, be sure to TEST it! Make sure you calibrate the response level before you begin the work, during the process and at the testing point. This will have everything to do with credibility and belief for your client.
