I did my own research on how and why hypnosis and trance work, and how the mind works in association with hypnosis and trance. It wasn't funded, it wasn't medically supervised, but it was done with a "proofs" system. I interviewed the only "experts"…

I have given away my Dave Elman book Hypnotherapy so I cannot quote chapter and verse. Dave himself noted (per your quote) that only "he" had yet to see the first success. Later on in the book however, he had a student that asked him about it speci…

You forgot to include trance in that group, which I have defined, as well as generic hypnosis. :) John

I'm not real sure I buy that one. We ARE aware during sleep. If we weren't, we wouldn't be woken up by noises or be able to respond to input from others without waking up. I have experienced both cases from both sides. Cases of hypnosis during sleep…

Actually, that is not necessarily true. There is no such thing as self-somnambulism for sure, but meditation and certain self-hypnosis techniques do yield trance phenomenon. In such cases, it does fit the definition that I provided, which is: the pu…

Such controversy is the very reason I chose to provide my own definition of the term hypnosis, that generically covers the topic. That being: The purposeful induction of a trance state, by whatever means is successful. In my opinion, hypnosis is al…

Gabriel, Hypnosis is a consent state. You will find differences between people just as with everything else. Its like if you ask for a drink of water, one person will get it for you, while the other person will point out the faucet and cups for you…

Input requested on proposed office format

Hi,
Once again I am headed into the breach. I am endeavoring to open an office that has a niche focus of removing fears. I am calling it "Hypnosis FRC" (Fear Removal Center). It is in a small group of other professional offices on a main thoroughfare that has high traffic and my sign will have high visibility. The place has 3 offices (I plan to expand shortly into having multiple hypnotists) and is in an "L" type layout with a receptionist/waiting room area at the entrance.

My dilemma is how to… Continue

The man in the mirror

I have recently been involved in some interesting exchanges and found myself starting to become what can only be described as competitive. Every now and then I do a reality check, and sometimes I see in others what I never want to see in myself. Changing Cooperation and Sharing, into competitiveness and coercion. It's time I took a step back and regrouped. If I have come across as competitive or coercive in my exchanges with any of you, please accept my sincere apology. I don't think I am any be… Continue

John, I just finished reading your ebook "The Nature of Trance" and I want to thank you for producing this incredibly useful work! In addition to providing a fresh new perspective to a topic in dire need of one, the section on working with what are often termed "resistant" clients is worth the price of admission alone.

Hello John,
I just read your post on the color induction. I would like to post it on the Script Bank Group. It would be posted with acknowledgment as coming from you. It is a great induction and I can hardly wait to use it.

Thanks
Chris

Thank you again for your help and advice. I'm going to try your induction tomorrow- It's the first I've seen with that level of feedback so I'm very excited to see how it goes!

John,

I would like to thank you for your brilliant color anchor induction. I use it very very often and it works amazingly well.

I would like to ask you what you do if the subject does not feel the sensation, because I have had this happen a few times with some subjects.

Thanks!

Joe

I used this last night after you directed me to these videos. I love it...I wrote about my experiences with it on my new discussion. One girl didn't "feel" anything but her hands didn't move during magnetic hands either. Two girls actually stopped the exercise when their hands started to raise and laughed. One girl (who had already more or less been induced by magnetic hands and then brought out) completely went under into a full slumped over trance but her hand continued to move up all the way next to her ear. Thanks for pointing this technique out to me.
