In my opinion, not so much. To learn to match/mirror other people's voices... if you MUST do it on your own... is to match/mirror other people's voices! That's the second best way to do it, and it's a far cry from the best way. And there really is no useful third way.

The best, of course, comes from spending time in a seminar room with skilled trainers with amazing ears (I'm certainly not the only one, though there are many popular trainers I wouldn't ever include on my personal short list) -- where LOTS of exercises are intentionally run for that specific purpose, with thorough trainer supervision, including having observers/listeners give you immediate real-time feedback about distinctions you're not yet hearing when you're trying to match someone else's voice.

Increasingly these days it seems people are trying to "do it on their own" and what that's causing of course is hordes of people who have a bare shadow of the skills they've read about. It's disappointing.

As for the metronome, that makes you more rhythmically compelling -- and that's all about leading. Matching nd mirroring is all about pacing. Both useful skills -- for verrrry different purposes.
