How important is it when you ask for a medical history that you are 'qualified' to understand the answers?

I am a qualified nurse but don't ask because A; I am Not giving anyone a clinical or 'health' consultation. And B; even I wouldn't understand some of the answers.

I am not aware for instance of a course on say, 'hypnosis for cancer', that gives even a rudimentary understanding of what the conditions do or are.

I have noticed that there is quite a bit of debate amongst hypnotists as to the meanings behind different words in the hypnotist vocabulary. Hypnotists tend to spend hours debating what these words mean. Some of them even doubt the dictionary definitions of different hypnosis related words. If you are looking to learn hypnosis, obviously these debates can become rather confusing.

Hypnosis is simply the delivery and acceptance of suggestion.

Suggestion is the inducement [creation] of an idea, belief or behaviour in the recipient without their reflection or reasoning being involved.
