Hi Lynne, Thanks for the compliment. :) What attracted me to hypnosis and NLP was the same thing that attracts most of your clients. I was in pain (in my case, emotional pain). I had tried other ways of getting over the issues I was having (tradit…

If you need more convincing that PR can work for you...here's another update about the power of search engine optimized press releases! As I mentioned, a few days ago a client asked me to get one of his websites on the front page of Google. This is…

Peter, you may want to search the forums for discussions on this topic (there have been several, I think). Scott Sandland, the founder of HypnoThoughts, is a drug and alcohol recovery expert and is on staff at two rehab centers in southern Californi…

What are you looking for on this site?
I'm looking to connect with people who are interested in how the human mind works, and what you can do when it doesn't. :)

I've been working on my own personal evolution for about 10 years now and I get a charge out of spending time with other evolved humans. So I'm looking to make friends, learn more about hypnosis and NLP, find true love, create world peace, and launch my torch singing career, find Nirvana, and learn how to program my DVR (not necessarily in that order).

In my spare time I'd like to gain a deeper understanding of hypnotic writing techniques I can use in my copywriting, PR and marketing work.
About Me:
I work with companies, organizations and individuals who are frustrated by how difficult it can be to generate new business or expand into new markets. Sometimes clients come to me because they're already spent a ton of money in the confusing maze of marketing and PR options out there--and have little or nothing to show for it. Typically clients are attracted to me because although they're experts in their field, they are intimidated by the thought of marketing or promoting themselves--and want an expert to execute their marketing & PR strategy.
Hobbies:
I work a lot of hours, so I don't get to indulge in hobbies as much as I'd prefer. But when I have time, I go swing dancing (Balboa, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, East Coast), I belly dance, I geek out @ sci-fi conventions like DragonCon, I design and build fantasy/sci-fi costuming, genealogy, jewelry making, offending the dogmatic, board games, euchre, movies, antique malls, playing with my kitties, getting massages, learning something new every day, plotting world domination

Why I Deleted the "Cult" Thread

It's not often that threads get deleted on HypnoThoughts. For the most part, it's a place where people can agree to disagree, and discussions maintain a high level of respect.

A few days ago, I recommended a self-improvement tool called "The Work" to someone who had asked for advice. I was introduced to The Work several years ago by a wonderful mentor, and this process of meditative inquiry has made a huge positive difference in my life.… Continue

Ideas for a Valentine's Day Promotion

Sometimes you just don't have much in the way of news, but that shouldn't stop you from promoting your services. Why not build a promotion around an upcoming holiday, such as Valentine's Day? (I think this is a worldwide thing, but I apologize if it's not!)

In the U.S., Valentine's Day is about romance, and is definitely couples-focused. There are a million news stories about couples. So why not stand out from the crowd and create a promotion aimed at single people?

You could write a news rele… Continue

How To Get News Coverage of Your Hypnosis Demonstration or Event

Whether you're participating in World Hypnotism Day™, the Great American Smokeout® or a local health and wellness fair, here are some hints that will help you get local news coverage of your event.

1. Create a high-quality publicity kit (also called a media kit) and post it on your website where it's easy for reporters to find.

Here are some of the things your kit could include:

• A press release that describes what you'll be doing at the event
• A pr

Article Marketing 101

Recently a HypnoThoughts member posted a discussion about "ezines" and how to use them for marketing. I started to post a brief answer which got so long it has now morphed into a blog post.

"Article marketing" can exist in either offline or online forms. An "ezine" is simply an electronic version of a magazine or newsletter (which is also a handy thing to have, but is different from article marketing.)

Offline, article marketing is a kind of public relations--you write an article about hypnosi… Continue
