Well, I'd like to say that I'm going to attend but, as a non-practicing (yet) hypnotist who works long hours in the IT field, I won't be able to get away for the convention this year - again.
There are several sessions and workshops that I would love to participate in (I've always been interested in 5-PATH and perhaps an NLP Practitioner course) and I would thoroughly enjoy meeting others in the profession but, I suppose that will have to wait for next year's…

That's awesome that you were able to attend Don's workshop! He did one here in Dallas... unfortunately, I missed it by one week! I wish I had become aware of them in time to attend; hypnotism trainings and workshops just weren't on my radar at that moment, which is a shame because I have heard so many great things about that workshop. Working with children is a definite interest of mine (I have a background in psychology and special education). I'm going to make sure to fit in as much as I can by Don at convention :) He certainly seems to be well-versed and highly regarded in so many arenas (pediatric hypnosis; weight loss; marketing strategies; etc)
I did get that issue of the Journal! It was in my packet that I received on Friday (I have so many wonderful resources from my training... and I purchased some great resources to add to my "small but growing" library of hypno-resources). I'll have to peruse the article and put his suggestions into action. We can hold each other accountable for implementing them and give each other updates on how we are doing :P I've been told over and over that the best way to build one's business is to give talks... and, in the past, I've implemented the strategy for my fitness and nutritional coaching... so, I'll just expand the scope of my speaking topics and I'll go explore/research how to best go about the teaching at community colleges. Great that you already have a contact at your local community college :)
I should look into John Weir's trainings; they might fit well with my fitness/nutritional background... and, I've already submitted my first rental request from the NGH library :)
Wishing you a restful and relaxing evening, Rachel
Kim Robert English, CHt said… Hi Kelly,
Well, sounds like things are moving along at the pace that's right for you right now. And it certainly sounds like to know where you're headed. I'll be interested to hear how things go and how things unfold.
No, I really am glad to hear back from you. And thanks for the details. Many of the people on the NC group say hello and then you never seem to hear from them again. I guess they are too busy. So I appreciate hearing about what your plans and thoughts are and the direction you're heading.
And I'm sure that getting active in the NGH chapter will be fun and informative at the same time. Seems as though the Asheville chapter has not been active in a while. I've been unable to get much information. Cheryl Elman gave me some good recommendations about how to pursue starting up the chapter but I'm not interested in galvanizing the troops just yet. I spent years organizing people, place and things and I'm going to put those skills into my practice for a while and see what business I can drum up.
Anyway, I appreciate the correspondence. Hope you'll keep in touch!
My best to you!
Kim

I really enjoyed reading your profile... sounds like you've got a great background and good sense of what you're wanting to do with hypnosis... are you moving in that direction or have you already opened your practice... your profile info sounded really enthusiastic and I thoroughly appreciated its tone... I'll be interested to hear what you do.
My best!
Kim
