The Experientially Gifted

This group is open to everyone, regardless of their current level of hypnotic responsiveness, who would like to develop their hypnotic abilities even more, for the enhancement of human potential, the ennoblement of the human spirit, and the fulfillment of human existence. Members are expected to remain within commonly-accepted levels of civil discourse. Rudeness, personal attacks, or hijacking a thread for the sole purpose of gratifying one's own vanity will result in suspension or termination…See More

Profile Information

Where do you live?
Raleigh, NC
Hypnosis Experience:
As a Hobby, Currently Studying
What are you looking for on this site?
Additional information from practicing hypnotists and students alike. I am a current NGH member - recently certified - and am building my experience and knowledge in preparation for opening my own hypnotism business.
Areas of Specialty:
I would like to provide services for general problems (weight loss and smoking, of course) but I would like to specialize in corporate services and sports enhancement (primarily golf).
About Me:
I've worked in telecommunications and data networking for over 20 years. I served 9 years in the U.S. Army between graduating highschool and joining corporate America.

I play golf (badly) and fly helicopters (quite well if I do say so myself) in addition to being a confirmed techie and technology junkie.

I intend to transition from my current corporate employment into working for myself in my own hypnotism business with my wife of 15 years.

Update: My transition to hypnotism is going slower than anticipated. Kids, work, bills, life are all factors in the delay. I still intend to open a practice and to start seeing clients (hopefully my first ones this year) but I think my schedule is a bit more realistic now.

My Goals are to start seeing clients this year (I don't have an office yet so, I'll have to work that part out) and establish a brick and mortar office sometime next year.
Hobbies:
Golf, aviation, reading, running (barefoot), homemade shoes, playing piano.

NGH Convention in Massachusetts - August 12th-14th

Posted on July 25, 2011 at 10:12am 4 Comments

Well, I'd like to say that I'm going to attend but, as a non-practicing (yet) hypnotist who works long hours in the IT field, I won't be able to get away for the convention this year - again.

There are several sessions and workshops that I would love to participate in (I've always been interested in 5-PATH and perhaps an NLP Practitioner course) and I would thoroughly enjoy meeting others in the profession but, I suppose that will have to wait for next year's…

Thank you for the welcome and the request :)

That's awesome that you were able to attend Don's workshop!  He did one here in Dallas... unfortunately, I missed it by one week!  I wish I had become aware of them in time to attend; hypnotism trainings and workshops just weren't on my radar at that moment, which is a shame because I have heard so many great things about that workshop.  Working with children is a definite interest of mine (I have a background in psychology and special education).  I'm going to make sure to fit in as much as I can by Don at convention :)  He certainly seems to be well-versed and highly regarded in so many arenas (pediatric hypnosis; weight loss; marketing strategies; etc)

I did get that issue of the Journal!  It was in my packet that I received on Friday (I have so many wonderful resources from my training... and I purchased some great resources to add to my "small but growing" library of hypno-resources).  I'll have to peruse the article and put his suggestions into action.  We can hold each other accountable for implementing them and give each other updates on how we are doing :P I've been told over and over that the best way to build one's business is to give talks... and, in the past, I've implemented the strategy for my fitness and nutritional coaching... so, I'll just expand the scope of my speaking topics and I'll go explore/research how to best go about the teaching at community colleges.  Great that you already have a contact at your local community college :)

I should look into John Weir's trainings; they might fit well with my fitness/nutritional background... and, I've already submitted my first rental request from the NGH library :)

Wishing you a restful and relaxing evening, Rachel

Hi Kelly,

Well, sounds like things are moving along at the pace that's right for you right now. And it certainly sounds like to know where you're headed. I'll be interested to hear how things go and how things unfold.

No, I really am glad to hear back from you. And thanks for the details. Many of the people on the NC group say hello and then you never seem to hear from them again. I guess they are too busy. So I appreciate hearing about what your plans and thoughts are and the direction you're heading.

And I'm sure that getting active in the NGH chapter will be fun and informative at the same time. Seems as though the Asheville chapter has not been active in a while. I've been unable to get much information. Cheryl Elman gave me some good recommendations about how to pursue starting up the chapter but I'm not interested in galvanizing the troops just yet. I spent years organizing people, place and things and I'm going to put those skills into my practice for a while and see what business I can drum up.

Anyway, I appreciate the correspondence. Hope you'll keep in touch!

My best to you!

Kim

Kelly,

I really enjoyed reading your profile... sounds like you've got a great background and good sense of what you're wanting to do with hypnosis... are you moving in that direction or have you already opened your practice... your profile info sounded really enthusiastic and I thoroughly appreciated its tone... I'll be interested to hear what you do.

My best!

Kim
