"Complicated Grief" shows up in the brains region associated with reward....

Posted on July 6, 2008 at 7:30pm 2 Comments

Below is an excerpt from a LA Times article (July 7th) on grief. Neurologist and psychiatrist have discovered a new kind of grief they are calling, 'complicated grief'. This form of grief is a more visceral prolonged experience for the person. There is a constant state of longing for the deceased loved one that is attached to the grieving process.

I have personally seen this with clients even after going through the stages of loss and dealing with any fear and/or anger. This new… Continue

Weighing Too Much Or Too Little May Increase Risk Of Dementia

Posted on June 10, 2008 at 12:18pm 0 Comments

I am constantly researching the psychological and physiological aspects of weight gain and the brains effects on the body and visa versa. With that being said, I have found the more knowledge that I have regarding the long term effects of being over weight the more motivation I can instill… Continue

Hey Lisa,

Great to hear from you. Things are going well, just getting my office set up here in Burbank. I would love to write a column for your newsletter, thank you for the opportunity, let's discuss a little more on what you are looking for and what I can offer. How are you? I trust that your practice is thriving and that the changes have turned out to be positive for you.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Dear Lisa...California laws will support reimbursement for your clients. Hypnosis is never covered. You will need to bill on psychological codes and have a supervisor to put those codes on the form. Smoking Cessation, Weight Loss, Phobias, Bruxism would be considered symptoms of 300.02 Generalized Anxiety.
Chronic Pain would be 307.81

This maybe helpful:
Most Common Codes for the Work of Hypnosis

300.40 Adult Depression

300.02 Generalized Anxiety Disorder

300.81 Somatization Disorder

307.81 Pain Disorder Associated with both
Psychological factors and general
Medical Condition

309.89 Post-Traumatic Stress

313.00 ADD / ADHD

I highly recommend Guide to Successful Insurance Reimbursement (T1)

A simple system designed to help clients get reimbursement from their health care providers under psychological services. You will learn how to create the type of practice that will get your clients reimbursed. This new manual is very complete, including client planning and working with a supervisor.A list of appropriate supervisors is included, as well as common diagnostic codes for hypnosis work. A sample Insurance Billing Form Disclosure Statement and many other forms are include on Computer CD in Microsoft Word. Zoilita Grant MS. CCHt.
