I have had an interest in hypnosis for quite some time, however, I am quite new to actually working with it. Not really sure how or where to start.I have been unemployed since September so as you can guess money has become a big issue. My wife and two of our children are in college so even when I was working there was a shortage of "extra" cash. There are a lot of people out there selling how to stuff. I am sure a lot of this is really good information. Maybe I will be good enough to sell a…See More

AHHHH - so you are recycling! Change does not occur in a straight line. We get to revisit old stuff when we are ready for a deeper cut - but look how far you have come - you are not where you were 18 years ago. Be open for the possibility of a deeper healing.
Do you use self-hypnosis? I teach the one minute Light Switch (see my videos) and encourage clients to use it at least 5 minutes a day - EVERY DAY! It is away of being pro-active (offensive) rather than being re-active (defensive).

Let me know if I can be of support.

Hi Mark,
Best of success with your studies. I agree with Don, think twice about some of what youu read on the net and find good teachers and courses when you can. Recently we had a wonderful (and inexpensive) one day conference in Kansas City. Monthy, the MO branch of the NGH meet and share. It may be worth a drive up once in a while on a Saturday afternoon to learn a little more.

Yes, back in my younger days, information about hypnosis was very difficult to find, especially in Oklahoma. Now, with the internet, it is pretty overwhelming.

Well, about the higher education degrees....when it comes to the art of hypnosis, I think there is not much taught in colleges and universities. I suspect that what is taught is mostly older techniques. Much of the advancement in hypnotherapy is happening with the people who are professional hypnotists and not doctors. Nancy and I are members of NGH and every year at the convention we see new developments. It is really exciting.

Mark, the best way to learn about hypnotherapy is in a good class, but when you cannot afford it you can be patient and study that wealth of information available. Just study with a skeptical eye because you are right, there is a lot of bogus info on the web.

I was a student of Gerald Kein. He has a lot of good info on the web ( hypnosispodcasting.com is a good source) and his videos are not too expensive and a very good source of professional level training. He is at omnihypnosis.com.

Driving to Stillwater five days a week has to be a drain with the price of gas!

Hello Mark,

I HAVE had a great day, thank you. We just finished a hypnotist class and have had a great week and a half.

I would like to encourage you to learn what you can and practice a lot. Be respectful of your volunteers and stretch yourself just a little each time.

Our profession is growing and there is more information out there all the time.

Best wishes to you too,
Don
