Hey all,My name is Matt. I'm 16 years old. I was recently, a few days ago, exposed to hypnotism. I was completely fascinated. I'm completely intrigued. I've read two books so far and i've decided…Continue

I've seen quite a few stage hypnosis shows, and rapid inductions have never been used.

I know what the deal with somnambulism is Peter, I mean somnambulism, that follows the hypnoidal, and cataleptic trance-depths. The amount of people able to reach that depth is far greater, then 10, or even 25%. And no smart "expert" would…

Actually it was a rhetorical question Peter. The 10% is the percentage of somnambulists, not people, who can achieve a somnambulist state. Second of all, I find the use of title's a display of insecurity, or the need to compensate. It might be…

Letters after your name don't give you first dibs on the truth. I have letters after my name (though I usually make them invisible because I don't care about them very much)... doesn't make me more right than someone who…

Well, I would say that about 80% of the people can reach somnambulism, about 20% very fast and the others with practice-some with just a/more longer induction/s, others with shorter one/s..and the other 20% won't ever come to you to be…

I typically encourage those new to this kind of rapid hypnosis to follow these steps. You can drop some or all of them later in your development. Firstly 'approach'. Be able to start a hypnotic encoutner anywhere anytime should you wish…

Arm pull - Forget it. The ONLY reason to do an arm "pull" is to actually assess for compliance, and then "flop" or "toss" it (similar to Elman's drop) A lot of people think a pull is nescessary, it is not. In any…

Hi Mathieu, welcome to hypnosis! As you've probably figured out, we've got a pretty diverse group. I do stage hypnosis and some clinical hypnosis. Remember that almost everything you will read on this site is that person's opinion based on their experience and we all have different experiences. Start with understanding that hypnosis is a state of mind that you are guiding someone to. It doesn't need to be rushed - that's mostly for show or effect, not that there's anything wrong with that, just that you don't have to do it instantly. You can have just as much fun and be just as impressive doing it slowly and dramatically. Your choice. But the bigger point is that it isn't all about the induction. You also have to learn how to give effective suggestions, how to respond when the subject doesn't respond the way you expect, etc. The best way to do this is through a certification class like the ones offered by National Guild of Hypnotists. Reading books is also a good way. As Roger said below, start with your buddies or family members. Understand it takes time and practice to get your skills in good working order and gain self confidence. And the effort is well worth it. Good luck.

Hi Matt, Start with some friends or family members who will volunteer to let you practice with them. The best bet is to take a hands-on course where you practice, practice, practice.

To your success!
