Good point, Victoria. I remember reading a rather shocking study of the relationship between body mass index in women and the incidence of childhood sexual abuse. There's quite a strong correlation between penetrative sexual abuse as a child…

Greetings, It's similar to those who come to me to quit smoking.  Once the client is in my office I point out that the subconscious mind generally won't allow the person to be a quitter.  Often times I get a smile, and then am…

It's irrelevant to me whether saying "lose weight" or "quit smoking" is more or less effective than using some other term. What is important is the client's perception and expectation.  When I "explain"…

We have to meet the client in the client's own linguistic space and then gently lead them into better linguistic spaces. (Remember pacing and leading from your NLP classes?)   The best source of smoking cessation referrals I have is called…

The hypnosis semantics involved do not take into account the commonality of understanding by the general public. Excess weight is seen as being evil.. and people DO want to lose it. As good a theory about how the body sees losing things, I have yet…

Hello Robert,
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I thought some really got defensive and some comments made were unnecessary. I left that part alone, as I honestly thought it was a waste for anyone to read again. I too believe that there is a difference and I saw your point. I am glad you did get some positive replies. Blessings to you!
