Ah James, James, You, my friend, are clearly behind on your reading (hint)-   otherwise you'd understand by now why regular folk like that newscaster, and several billion more like him, still regard hypnotized subjects as being…

Lisa, Yes indeed, soda pop DID in fact taste better in bottles, and push mowers (see the "antiques" section on ebay if you have no idea what I'm talking about) had ZERO pollution AND provided folks with a FREE "aerobic"…

John, My parents taught me to never throw trash on the ground-  ever, and my wife (same age and raised 5,000  miles away from where I grew up) was raised exactly the same way. So shame on you for wadding up paper and chucking in on the…

ROTFL! And soda pop tasted better in glass bottles too. I remember push mowers, and wringer washers. Got my hair caught in the rollers as a kid trying to do the wash.    Plastic bags are convenient but I love paper bags. They are…

There are two sides to every coin..as they say. In those days of yesteryear it was also the custom when we unwrapped something like a candy bar or the waxed paper that came with donuts that we just wadded it up and threw it on the ground and walked…

Kelley, I was just commenting to my wife this morning about how milk tasted better from glass bottles, and somebody sent me this piece a few hours later (love that kind of coincidence!). Then again, perhaps milk tasted better back in the day because…

The "Green" Thing....; - )

The Green ThingChecking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this green thing back in my earlier days."The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.Back then, we…See More

About Me:
I'm a European-trained hypnotherapist (now happily retired) who graduated in 1983 from the "Institute for Applied Hypnosis" in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After exclusively devoting more than twelve years of my life to to researching most of the English, Dutch, German and French literature on the subject for the past two centuries, I embarked on a unique mission: to uncover and reveal, for the very first time, the TRUE reason why hypnotism has always been almost universally regarded by both the public as well as most health-care practitioners in such a negative fashion; and the result of that quest has been my book: "A CRITICAL History of Hypnotism: the UNauthorized story".
Hobbies:
Reading, writing, playing a mean game of tennis, working out at the gym, hiking in the woods, kayaking, and mercilessly pestering my long-suffering Dutch wife of 39 years.

And the brainwashing continues...

Posted on December 29, 2010 at 6:56am 2 Comments

"DC Comics recently launched a series called “Batman Incorporated.” Essentially, Bruce Wayne (well-known as Batman’s alter ego to comics fans) is cruising the world setting up a “Batman” for major cities

across the globe. These Batman figures, though, will not be vigilantes.

They will be sanctioned by whatever local police force is in charge of

the area in which the new Batman is operating. In the case of Detective

Comics number 12 (Part one) and Batman Annual number 28…

Should I donate this $300,000 windfall to Scott...?

Posted on October 22, 2010 at 7:47am 5 Comments

Yeah, I know- I'm a saint.....too good to be true. So that's why, when I received the following

email this morning, I thought: "Sure I'd LOVE to buy a Ferrari or a Lambo, but instead of being

frivolous, why not donate my coming windfall to Scott and HypnoThoughts?!"

Needless to say my wife became hysterical with rage, and even insinuated that I was somehow

under the influence of "hypnotic mind control", but one quick call to a divorce lawyer took care of

HER (a shame after… Continue

Why Men Don't Write Advice Columns

Dear Walter: I hope you can help me. The other day, I set off for work

leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't gone

more than a mile down the road when my engine conked out and the car

shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I

got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom…

Hey Saul!

I just ordered your book & I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.  I've been reading a lot of very old books & writings, etc. and I'm fascinated by the history of our wonderful profession.  I have a question I'm hoping you can concisely answer.

When I read the writings of Liebeault, Bernheim, Janet, Berillon, etc. I am perplexed that their overwhelming acceptance & usage of hypnosis just seemed to come to a stop somewhere around the early 1900's. How?  Why?

I also wanted to thank you in advance to reading your book, for investing so much of your time to putting together "our story".

Hypnotically Yours,

Anthony Verderame

Hi Saul,
I looked at your site with your hypnosis history book. It's obvious that you've done considerable research. If you have THE ART OF HYPNOSIS, you might wish to take a look at Chapter 3 for a few possible ideas that you can use. If not, email me at royhunter@msn.com and I will send you that chapter in a file.
Best wishes,
Roy Hunter
