The difference between a novice and an expert

Posted on October 12, 2011 at 11:30am 16 Comments

What marks the transition from novice to expert?

How to Write a business plan

Posted on August 24, 2011 at 9:47am 5 Comments

This is a pretty useful article on writing  a business plan.  People tell me they know what they want to see clients but not run a business.  If that's the case, get hired by another hypnotist and work for them (less risk and less money).

If, on the other hand, you want to run your own practice, it's a good idea to be able to think of it like a business.  You don't only have to think that way, but it's good to be able to.  Here is an article that breaks down what that…

The Importance of Versatility

Posted on July 12, 2011 at 5:47pm 7 Comments

Today was one of those days that being a nerd paid off.  It was also one of those days that rewards hard work and preparation.

Today I saw 5 clients and had one group session.  All of them were very different challenges that needed a wide variety of techniques applied.

Everything from forgiveness work, to ideo dynamic responses, to NLP, obscure pain control, medical hypnosis, family systems applications, utilization of weird research I've picked up…

Off to teach this weekend

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 3:28pm 5 Comments

Just a quick note from me that I'm leaving Thursday and won't be back until Monday afternoon, so I won't be as actively moderating on here while I'm gone.

I'm teaching a class on pain control and medical/dental applications of hypnosis with Michael Ellner.  We are both excited about it and are thankful that Roger Moore put it all together so that it could be fun.

So it's 2 travel days and 3 teaching days, which means less moderation from…

My email is filling up with people saying. "Got it or received etc" have no idea what is going on, which is not unusual for me, but HOW DO I STOP THE waves of clutter.

Hi Scott!  I am trying to find a copy of the survey of hypnotists that you did a while back. I figure it is posted here, but I must be overlooking it.  Could you please direct me to it?

Thanks!
