Dear Shayn, there was a metaphor some years ago on a website, that is now closed.
Here is a script about abuse, just as I found it

Which area is your meta4 useful in? It could be filed under: boundaries, abuse or safety.

Which country are you in? Canada

Sometimes, I don't know if you ever do this, but Saturday mornings are a good time to get cosy and spend some time just nurturing myself.

When I feel like nurturing myself.... I like to wrap myself in my favorite comforter...... It's a white comforter, and it's very thick..... and... soft..... and I feel so absolutely... warm... and cosy in it, ...like nothing could.. touch me.

Of course, if there's a draft in the house I sometimes have to get up and make sure to close the door and windows before coming back to my safe, warm comforter, but its well worth the effort, because a drafty wind is best left on the outside of my home where it can't get to me, and I so love to be in a quiet... calm.... warm..... space.

I think it would be great, especially on Saturday mornings when I like to be alone to nurture myself, if my door had a door knob only on the inside, and that way no one could come into my space unless I invite them in... only when I choose to.

Maybe it would be even better if the people I would rather not invite in wouldn't even be able to see my door.

It would be really neat to have one of those shields like they have in the show "Star Trek" to make their space ship seem to disappear whenever an enemy ship came near.

They just say "Shield's up" and the ship's computer activates an invisible barrier that keeps others from seeing them or getting too close, so the enemy ship just flies by without even knowing they're there.

My ideal door would have this great feature where I'd just say "Shield's up" and it would look like I had no door, and so someone passing by wouldn't even notice it, not unless I wanted them to, and meanwhile I would be so happy and.... calm.... and... warm.... in my safe space.

Ed's note: Thanks anonymous. I include below your original entry... to show how you pulled those ideas together.

These can be used in increasing intensity as needed to create a sense of protection from someone or something that is threatening you. Imagine the person being protected on the inside of the protective cover.

1. A rubber ball that bounces off anything that hits it

2. A room with doors and windows that can only be opened from the inside.

3. A castle surrounded by a high wall, a moat and footmen with weapons to protect it.

4. An invisible wall (e.g. "Get Smart")

5. An invisible shield (e.g. surrounding the Enterprise in "Star Trek"

6. A bank vault with six inch walls. 7. Fort Knox
