The critical what?

Does it annoy anyone else when people use the term 'bypass the critical factor' rather than 'bypass the critical faculty'?For some reason it irks the bejeezus out of me!Continue

Favourite induction

This one may seem a bit trivial, but I don't get the chance to talk to many other hypnotists on a daily basis so what the hey! What's your favourite induction? It occurred to me today that I don't…Continue

I don't do anything to convince the client they are hypnotised. As long as I know they are hypnotised then they know they are hypnotised. Any doubt is caused by the hypnotist, not the subject. How do I make sure I know? Test, test, test. I…

Hey Zak, Sorry mate. Here's a good vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCAoNWbn9yE The thing about the arm catalepsy induction is that it is not a shock induction like the hand drop or arm pull. The arm pull/grab/drop aspect of it is window…

No it's not a re-induction. The fact they can't bend their arm tells you they are hypnotised. Just because they are sitting there with their eyes open, saying "holy s**t, I can't bend my arm!!" doesn't mean they are…

Also, I think the Suggestion induction is waaaaay too close to Elman's 3 handshake induction for FurubaGurl to grab the credit for it! lol You should have a look at Reg Blackwood's version of that for a pretty fail safe way of doing it…

Hi Zak, With regard to the arm catalepsy induction, the subject is hypnotised before the trance state is induced. Once they cannot bend their arm they are in the process so you could pull it, touch it, lick it, blow on it, wink at it, pretty much…

In the UK? Things are different here, with the 1952 hypnotism act governing stage hypnosis and no regulation at all on therapeutic approaches maybe we can moan about our stuff and be here to help our overseas friends if they want to come here.

Hi Zak. Congrats on how well you are doing so far. NEVER get discouraged. You are learning an extraordinary skill that a very small percentage of people on the planet know how to do and you are already being successful. Nice one. I personally make…

I actually believe that to talk of the problem of by-passing the 'critical factor' makes far MORE sense than 'critical faculty'. The critical faculty is the critical faculty. It's not there to be by-passed. It merely is what…

In 1983, my mentor was Charles Tebbetts, who was a legendary "Master Trainer" of hypnosis. Sometimes he used "factor" rather than "faculty" -- so I am not bothered by it. There are many more important items to be…

Maybe it would be a good idea, to stop taking things too serious, and start to smile when you realize that others make mistakes as well.

I find that it's more of a way to understand the state. As you say, obviously the mind is just a concept and therefore a part of the mind can't exist but the critical factor is just the mind's defenses isn't it? I find that…

I really don't understand the hypnotists who make a big deal out of dismissing the whole CCF idea. I partly suspect that they genuinely think the rest of us really think it exists. I don't. Clearly, if the mind itself does not exist…

About Me:
Hi, I am a hypnotist living in Kent, UK.
After a lifelong fascination with hypnosis I finally made the effort to learn this stuff. I'm so glad I did as it has been the most interesting thing I have ever set my mind to. It also helped me escape a career as a self-employed plumber. I still plumb, but not nearly as much!
When I was looking to start my training I was fortunate enough to stumble on Jon Chase's site first and am really glad to have been taught by one of the best from the off. I highly recommend his courses to anyone with even a passing interest in the subject. Thanks Jon.
My hypnotherapy practice is still in it's infancy, but I have high hopes and big plans.
I love music and have played guitar and sung in bands since I was 16. Strangely enough I got as much enjoyment from getting a friend to forget the number 4 as I did playing with my band in front of 40,000 people.
My band:

Hobbies:
Music and hypnosis. Hypnosis and music. Definitely not plumbing.
