I figured both the pain and the shock of the accident created their own trance state so i didn't need to induce one. I was shouting because I was scared and because it paced the incident. I sweetly asked him if he was hurting? I knew he was but wanted to elicit a yes answer. When he said he was I stated in as commanding voice as I could muster that I was a pain control expert and could get him out of pain until the paramedics arrived. i aske him if he wanted out of pain until they arrived. Another yes answer. So I told him to focus totally and completely on what I was going to tell him to do and to ignore everything else if he wanted out of pain. Again, I asked him if he wanted out of pain enough to focus totally on what I was saying to the extent that he would ignore everything else? I got my 3 yes answers and began giving him pain control suggestions and exercises to do. He was focused totally and completely--which is all a trance state requires.
