Assuming no organic cause for the misdirected fascination (certain conditions can cause unique fascinations), you can approach this from several directions. As has been suggested, make/present the things that 'should' be focused on just…

Jeffrey Stephens replied to Dimitrios's discussion 'I hypnotized a chain smoker, but she lit a cigarette within the hour?'
Hello Dimitrios, You have asked a very good question. And an important one. How do you know when the client needs more? In general, I talk with the client after the session to find out 'exactly' how they are feeling and what they are…

Hello Dimitrios,   You have been given a great deal of good advice already. As the one under the microscope here, I thought I would throw my 2 cents in.   First, even though I 'typically' get the job done in one session of 15-25…

Jeffrey Stephens replied to Ian Collins's discussion 'Does NLP become a slightly risky if not dangerous sect?'
Okay, I can accept your position to a degree. I am a person who really evaluates what a person says, then watch the results. And between the two, I determine whether or not I want anything to do with that teacher. This is why I don't want…

Jeffrey Stephens replied to Christopher Leadbitter's discussion 'how did you get hands on experience when you first started in this business???????'
A method that has been very good for many of my students is to make a small sign that says "Free Hypnosis Today" and finding a good place where people hang out. Recently, with my last several classes, I have been making name tags that…

Hey Dreams, I would have to say that one must start with the understanding that we do not see with our eyes, we do not hear with our ears, we do not smell with our noses or taste with our tongues. All experiences of the body are actually taking…

I don't know how you do hypnosis. But when I do it, the client is definitely not in control... and they often tell me so. It is that which keeps me honest and always working for the best interest of the client. If I was not in control, the…

I can definitely say that when I am doing hypnosis, the compliance is not optional. A subject in hypnosis doesn't analyze to determine compliance. He or she simply does what he or she is instructed to do. That's hypnosis. BTW, I actually…

To touch a life...

Posted on November 18, 2008 at 10:11pm 4 Comments

All too often I find hypnotists who lose sight of the thing that is most wonderful about what we do. I became a hypnotist because it was a way to really make the lives of the people I work with better. I can touch someone's life in a way that makes a difference for them, and for those in their life.

That gentleman who was spending nearly $5 a day on cigarettes, while getting slower and slower all the time because he didn't breathe as well as he used to. Now he uses that $5 to do… Continue

O exalted one, greeting.

I found you at last! Nice visiting with your lovely wife at the VA twice this summer!

Everyone is well, and my granddaughter is keeping me very young! Suzie saw 2 photos of her.

I was in the Navy passing through San Diego where I went to a theatre. A magician / mentalist was performing. Two sailors and I were called to participate in the act. The other two after hypnotism sang the Marine Hymn, and thought they were Marines. I was also supposed to do the same. NOTHING EVER HAPPENED!!!! Wonder why?

Take care brother!

Hi Jeffrey,

I don't know why, but this site wouldn't let me respond to your question about NLP.

As you know, the term "Rapport" is used quite a bit in the profession and for best results I know it is required. You stated rapport doesn't seem too important... It's my experience in situations like you described, even if it's people overhearing you, that if you notice something happening that you expected to see, you've do have rapport. Rapport is just a level of connectedness a person has with another. If the connection is there, a person responds.
